Tritium dissolution in and release from li2o

Fusion Engineering and Design, 1989
The solubility of tritium in Li 2 O crystals equilibrated with HT-H 2 and T 2 gas was measured. The solubility of tritium in Li 2 O was found to obey Sieverts' law. The Sievert's constants K s for hydrogen and tritium dissolution in Li 2 O were determined to be log K s = (1271 ± 46)/ T + (2.33 ± 0.07) atm 1/2 and log K s = (1290 ± 81)/ T +

Tritium Release from Silica Glass

Fusion Science and Technology, 2002
We investigated tritium (T) release behavior from silica glass. The specimens were 8 kinds of commercially available silica glass. T was injected by the 6Li (n,α)T reaction of sintered pellets of lithium oxide (Li 2 O) into the silica glass with thermal neutrons in JRR-2 (VT-8) up to 5 × 10 18 neutrons/cm 2 at ambient temperature (about 350 K).

Overview of the Tritium Release Experiment in France

Fusion Technology, 1988
The results show the dominating influence of the soil on the HT -> HTO conversion rate and allow the qualification of existing computer models.

Tritium Behavior Intentionally Released in the Room

Fusion Science and Technology, 2008
To construct a fusion reactor with high safety and acceptability, it is necessary to establish and to ensure tritium safe handling technology. Tritium should be well-controlled not to be released to the environment excessively and to prevent workers from excess exposure. It is especially important to grasp tritium behavior in the final confinement area,

Measurement of Uptake and Release of Tritium by Tungsten

Fusion Science and Technology, 2015
Tungsten is currently contemplated as plasma facing material for the divertor of future fusion machines. In this paper the uptake of tritium by tungsten and its release behavior have been investigated. Tungsten samples have been annealed at various temperatures and loaded at also different temperatures with deuterium containing 7.2 % tritium at a ...

Lessons to be learned from a tritium release

Conference Record for 1992 Fifth Conference on Human Factors and Power Plants, 1992
In December 1991, equipment breakdowns resulted in a tritium release at the Department of Energy's (DOE's) Savannah River K-Reactor. A description of the event is presented with emphasis of human factors lessons to be learned. The authors describe the changes in culture that are occurring within the DOE's nuclear complex as the DOE seeks to adopt the ...

TRITIUM RELEASE FROM NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS IN TAIWAN

Health Physics, 2003
Tritium is produced in light water reactors from various sources and the design source terms for both BWR and PWR plants are reviewed. The chemical forms of tritium produced in the coolant are discussed in terms of water radiolysis and free radical reactions in the reactor core regions, and the major form of tritium released from the coolant systems is

Tritium release from a codeposited layer of carbon and tritium during air exposure

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1989
In fusion reactors containing large quantities of graphite, one of the principal processes causing the retention of tritium in the torus is codeposition of eroded carbon with the tritium. When tritium operations begin in the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR) and eventually in the Compact Ignition Tokamak (CIT), this process will result in a ...
