Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

An asymptotically safe solution to the U(1) triviality problem

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2017
We explore whether quantum gravity effects within the asymptotic safety paradigm can provide a predictive ultraviolet completion for Abelian gauge theories.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The de Rham Cohomology Classes of Hemi-Slant Submanifolds in Locally Product Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesMathematics
This paper aims to discuss the de Rham cohomology of hemi-slant submanifolds in locally product Riemannian manifolds. The integrability and geodesical invariance conditions of the distributions derived from the definition of a hemi-slant submanifold are ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Chen optimal inequalities of CR-warped products of generalized Sasakian space form

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science, 2020
Our main objective of this paper is to derive the relationship between the main extrinsic invariant, and the contact CR δ-invariant (new intrinsic invariant) on a generic submanifold in trans-Sasakian generalized Sasakian space forms.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Order-Based Salience Patterns in Language: What They Are and Why They Matter

open access: yesErgo, An Open Access Journal of Philosophy
Whenever we communicate, we inevitably have to say one thing before another. This means introducing particularly subtle patterns of salience into our language.

Numerically trivial foliations [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales de l'Institut Fourier, 2004
Given a positive singular hermitian metric of a pseudoeffective line bundle on a complex Kähler manifold, a singular foliation is constructed satisfying certain analytic analogues of numerical conditions. This foliation refines Tsuji’s numerically trivial fibration and the Iitaka fibration. Using almost positive singular hermitian metrics with analytic
