Diversity and abundance of macro-invertebrates on abandoned cattle kraals in a semi-arid savanna. [PDF]
In this manuscript, we present new knowledge on how soil and plant productivity influence both aboveground and belowground macro‐invertebrate assemblages. Abandoned cattle enclosures remain important for savanna macro‐invertebrates years after abandonment.

The impact of wildfire and mammal carcasses on beetle emergence from heathland soils
Staphylinidae were most abundant on carcasses in burnt heathlands; Elateridae and Curculionidae were more abundant in unburnt heathland. Emergence of scavenging beetles was not negatively affected by wildfires. Rare species of scavenging beetles were more abundant in burnt heathlands than unburnt.

Abstract Surface‐active arthropods have limited dispersal abilities and their abundances are responsive to changes in the environment. Their sensitivity allows for the identification of aspects of environmental variation that are responsible for changes in community assemblages of these arthropods.
