Simulation of a full scale Trombe wall system [PDF]

open access: yesWIT Transactions on Engineering Sciences, 2012
Two dimensional transient modelling of the flow and heat transfer in an idealized Trombe wall system was performed for a fixed set of physical dimensions. The governing equations were solved using multiphysics software. Buoyancy and thermal accumulation in a brick wall are the main effects considered.

Theoretical analysis and numerical study of natural convection inside combined solar chimney

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 12, Issue 5, Page 2052-2071, May 2024.
Theoretical analysis and numerical study of natural convection inside combined solar chimney. Abstract Solar chimneys may induce natural ventilation through solar radiation. However, sufficient theoretical studies are needed as a basis to fully exploit passive design in practical green building design.

Selective Internal Heat Distribution in Modified Trombe Wall

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2017
At present, the requirements for thermal insulation of the external walls in buildings are being increased. There is a need to reduce energy consumption for heating rooms during the winter season. This may be achieved by increasing the thermal resistance of the outer partitions, using solutions that utilize either recuperation or solar radiation.

An experimental comparison of thermal energy storage in directly and indirectly radiated adsorbent beds integrated with solar thermal collectors

open access: yesEnergy Storage, Volume 6, Issue 3, April 2024.
Abstract Adsorbents heated using solar energy can be used to achieve thermal energy storage and sorption refrigeration with low environmental impacts. This research compares two different methods of heating adsorbents with solar energy to store thermal energy: (1) by exposing the adsorbents to incident light transmitted through a solar collector window,

Transient Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis of Passive Cooling in a Building with Diurnal Radiative Cooling Material Coated onto Its Rooftop

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 12, Issue 2, February 2024.
Transient computational fluid dynamics calculations show that radiatively cooled rooftops can effectively reduce the temperature in underlying air channels. The cooled air descends through the air channel to the interior of the building while warmer air from the occupied zone of the building is circulated to the top of the air channel, keeping the ...

Thermal Performance Assessment of Concrete Walls Using Different Phase Change Materials

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Energy demand is continuously increasing around the globe, and the building sector contributes 40% of the total energy consumption, as per the studies. Fossil fuels are the primary cause of harmful gas emissions, thus causing environmental pollution.
