Chiggers (Family Trombiculidae) of the North American Deserts

1973
Of the more than 285 species belonging to 44 genera of trombiculid mites in North America (Brennan & Jones, 1959, etc.), 135 species (47%) of 31 genera (70%) have been found in the deserts. Some species occur only at marginal or isolated localities, but most records are based on several to many samples.
