Quality‐adjusted life years in the presence and absence of organized mammographic screening using data from BreastScreen Norway

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 10, Page 2537-2548, 15 May 2026.
What's New? Although mammographic screening can reduce breast cancer mortality and extend life, some studies have found a negative impact on net quality‐adjusted life years (QALYs). Here, the authors estimated net QALYs associated with biennial mammographic screening for women aged 50–69 years in Norway under various scenarios.

Prognostic Factors of High Healthcare Utilization Costs Among People With Spinal Disorders Using a Spine Registry Linked to Public Healthcare Data

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Spinal disorders are associated with substantial healthcare costs, but prognostic factors associated with high spine‐related healthcare expenditures remain insufficiently understood. Therefore, this study aimed to identify prognostic factors associated with spine‐related healthcare costs among patients with spinal disorders ...

Two Problems for the Political Inclusion of Animals

open access: yesJournal of Applied Philosophy, Volume 43, Issue 2, Page 526-548, May 2026.

Use of Metabotyping to Identify Individuals With Different Triglyceride Response Curves After Intake of High‐Fat Meals

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
We applied a latent class mixed model to cluster individuals based on their postprandial triglyceride response curves after consumption of high‐fat meals. Three clusters with different triglyceride response patterns were identified. This approach holds the potential to be used for identifying metabolically dysfunctional individuals.

Novel GH115 xylan α‐1,2‐glucuronidases with distinct preferences for xylan‐derived oligomers and polymers

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Natural polymers are promising sustainable materials for diverse applications. Xylans, major components of hemicellulose, exhibit origin‐dependent substitution patterns that determine their physicochemical properties. Targeted enzymatic modification of these substituents offers a mild and precise approach for tailoring the polymer's ...

Regionalization and Multidecadal Change in the Southern Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The current delineation of the southern Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem fisheries management zones responds only to political divisions rather than ecological features or a combination of both. In this paper, we implemented three time series analysis techniques on spatially explicit daily and monthly resolved data sets from satellite and

Solar Wind‐Magnetosphere‐Ionosphere Coupling During the October 2024 Storms

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Two geomagnetic storms occurred in October 2024 (Oct 6‐9 and 10–12), driven by the impact of a series of interplanetary coronal mass ejections on the magnetosphere. The first was a moderate storm, with peak Sym‐H near −150 nT, whereas the second was intense, Sym‐H reaching −340 nT.
