Trope Bundle Theories of Substance [PDF]

open access: yes
In this chapter, we provide an opinionated introduction to contemporary trope bundle theories of substance. We assess different trope bundle theories on the grounds of their two main aims: to provide an adequate account of substances or objects by means ...

Trope-relations

open access: yes
This chapter explores issues to do with the nature and existence of relations in the context of a theory of tropes. It argues (1) that relations most likely exist, (2) that what exists when a relation exists could be a trope, and (3) that if we want to ...

Multi‐Targeting Carnosic Acid Kills Drug‐Resistant Helicobacter pylori With Narrow‐Spectrum Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carnosic acid selectively eradicates drug‐resistant Helicobacter pylori through a multi‐targeted mechanism involving urease inhibition, membrane disruption, and biofilm eradication. It exhibits no detectable resistance, potent in vivo efficacy, and minimal impact on gut microbiota, positioning it as a promising narrow‐spectrum lead compound against ...

A Trope Nominalist Theory of Natural Kinds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this chapter, I present the first systematic trope nominalist approach to natural kinds of objects. It does not identify natural kinds with the structures of mind-independent entities (objects, universals or tropes).

A Modular PLUG‐IN Photosynthetic Chassis With Tunable Thermal Control for Mammalian Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work establishes a “plug‐in” chassis compatible with mammalian systems that synchronizes growth, production, and cell‐wall re‐configuration, providing a versatile platform for photosynthetic bioproduction and microalgal synthetic biology. ABSTRACT Microalgae are promising photosynthetic platforms for high‐value compounds, yet their industrial use ...

T2T Genome Assembly and Multi‐Omics Data Reveal Terrestrial Adaptation and Mucus Biosynthesis in Tropical Leatherleaf Slug (Laevicaulis alte)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A gap‐free genome assembly and multi‐omics comparison of the terrestrial slug Laevichaulis alte with an aquatic relative reveal that expansion of the VEGF family orchestrates mucus production, lipid metabolism, and immune defense—highlighting key molecular innovations for conquering life on land.

Trope Sheaves. A Topological Ontology of Tropes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In this paper I want to show that topology has a bearing on the theory of tropes. More precisely, I propose a topological ontology of tropes. This is to be understood as follows: trope ontology is a „one-category”-ontology countenancing only one kind of ...

Solar‐Driven Bifunctional Adsorption‐Storage Films for Ultra‐Fast Dehumidification and Freshwater Supply in Low‐carbon Buildings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bifunctional adsorption‐storage films enable autonomous indoor humidity regulation and freshwater harvesting, rapidly decreasing relative humidity from 90.7% to 21.6% within one hour while producing 1.1 kg·m−2·day−1 of water, offering a passive route towards energy‐efficient humidity control and sustainable indoor environments. ABSTRACT Indoor humidity
