Invasive signal crayfish and native noble crayfish show trophic niche shrinkage in sympatry [PDF]
Studying the coexistence of native species and invasive species with similar functional traits, habitat usage, and feeding habits is crucial for understanding the dynamics of invasion and ecological changes in the invaded ecosystem.

Amphiphilic sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles buffer endo/lysosomal acidity in microglia by limiting V‐ATPase membrane recruitment and restoring endosomal homeostasis. Following systemic administration, they accumulate in the ischemic hemisphere partly through association with infiltrating immune cells, suppress TLR3/IRF3 and TLR4/NF‐κB signaling ...

Pathological tissue rigidity mechanoprimes microglia by enhancing actin cytoskeleton–nucleus coupling and chromatin opening at rigidity‐responsive cis‐regulatory elements (mechanoCREs). Subsequent NF‐κB/p65 signaling converges on this permissive regulatory state to amplify inflammatory gene expression and microglial activation.

Introduction of non-native species is a leading threat to global aquatic biodiversity. Competition between native and non-native species is often influenced by changes in suitable habitat or food availability.

Human vellus pilosebaceous units (PSUs) remain uncharted. This single‐nucleus atlas reveals coordinated remodeling of the aging PSU niche: reduced bulge stem cell representation with altered regenerative programs, increased representation of a stress‐responsive channel+ epithelial state, enhanced androgen‐responsive sebaceous programs, reduced ...

Trophic niche overlap between flatfishes in a nursery area on the Portuguese coast
The diets and the trophic niche overlap between seven flatfish species were studied in a coastal nursery adjoining to the Tagus estuary (Portugal). Fish were sampled monthly, from March to November 1999, using a beach seine. Arnoglossus imperialis (Rafinesque, 1810), Arnoglossus laterna (Walbaum, 1792) and Arnoglossus thori Kyle, 1913, fed mainly on ...

Diet Composition and Trophic Niches of the Fish Community in Lake Balkhash
Lake Balkhash is a large endorheic lake experiencing ongoing hydrological and climatic variability. This study aimed to evaluate the species composition and structure of the forage base across three trophic levels—phytoplankton, zooplankton, and ...

The mechanisms of microRNA cargo sorting to extracellular vesicles, important mediators of cell communication, are not fully understood. This study reveals that the microRNA‐production machinery acts as a ‘hub’ for the sorting of microRNAs to extracellular vesicles, a process regulated by dynamic organelle interactions.

Epibenthic predators in estuarine shallow soft-bottom environments are generally considered to have broad ecological niches with a wide overlap. This allows them to cope with abundant but highly variable prey communities.

Under pathological stimulation, NCOA4 in macrophages interacts with STAT1 to promote CH25H transcription. The subsequent increase in 25‐HC production activates macrophages, triggers inflammatory responses and ferroptosis, and accelerates the progression of AAA.
