Organoids: Current Applications and Future Directions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Organoids are three‐dimensional multicellular structures derived from stem cells or primary tissues that recapitulate key structural and functional features of native organs. Advances in stem cell biology, biomaterials, and bioengineering have established organoids as powerful platforms for studying human development and disease mechanisms, drug ...

Metformin Inhibits Trophoblast Ferroptosis by Suppressing ATF2 and Activating the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 Pathway to Improve Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 18, 30 September 2026.
Metformin suppresses ATF2 expression, activating the PI3K/Akt pathway and promoting Nrf2 nuclear translocation. This upregulates GPX4, inhibiting ferroptosis in trophoblast cells. Erastin blocks system Xc−, depleting GSH and promoting ferroptosis. LY294002 and ML385 inhibit the pathway, validating the mechanism.

The evolving role of immunotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 18, 15 September 2026.
Abstract Ovarian cancer remains a major cause of gynecologic cancer mortality; and, although immune checkpoint inhibitors have transformed treatment in other solid tumors, their activity in ovarian cancer has been limited by tumor heterogeneity, an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and the lack of robust predictive biomarkers.

Clonal Composition of Human Adrenocortical Neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The mechanisms of tumorigenesis of adrenocortical neoplasms are still not understood. Tumor formation may be the result of spontaneous transformation of adrenocortical cells by somatic mutations.

Overexpression of NANOG in gestational trophoblastic diseases: Effect on apoptosis, cell invasion, and clinical outcome

open access: yes, 2008
Gestational trophoblastic disease includes choriocarcinoma, a frankly malignant tumor, and hydatidiform mole (HM), which often leads to the development of persistent gestational trophoblastic neoplasia and requires chemotherapy.

Cyclin E and P16 Immunoreactivity in Epitheloid Trophoblastic Tumor-an Aid in Differential Diagnosis

open access: yes, 2008
Epithelioid trophoblastic tumor (ETT) is a relatively uncommon trophoblastic tumor that can be confused with several trophoblastic and nontrophoblastic lesions, notably the placental site nodule and invasive squamous carcinoma of the cervix.
