Which climate indices are relevant for predicting the response of tropical forests to future climate scenarios ? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Climate models predict a range of changes in the amazonian region, including increased frequency of extreme climatic events, increased average temperatures, increased atmospheric CO2 and reduced rainfall intensity.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

An umbrella review of health co-benefits from actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

open access: yesThe Lancet Planetary Health
Background: There have been many modelled studies of potential health co-benefits from actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but so far there have been no large-scale attempts to compare the magnitude of health and climate effects across sectors ...

Tropical vegetation response to Heinrich Event 1 as simulated with the UVic ESCM and CCSM3 [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2013
We investigated changes in tropical climate and vegetation cover associated with abrupt climate change during Heinrich Event 1 (HE1, ca. 17.5 ka BP) using two different global climate models: the University of Victoria Earth System-Climate Model (UVic ...

The Land-Sea Warming Contrast as the Driver of Tropical Sea Level Pressure Changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this presentation we address the causes of the large-scale tropical sea level pressure (SLP) changes during climate change. The analysis we present is based on climate change model simulations, observed trends and the seasonal cycle.

Interannual variability of the Tropical Atlantic independent of and associated with ENSO: Part II. The South Tropical Atlantic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Two dominant ocean-atmosphere modes of variability on interannual timescales were defined in Part I of this work, namely, the North Tropical Atlantic (NTA) and South Tropical Atlantic (STA) modes.

Sustainable Building Design for Tropical Climates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The “Handbook-Sustainable Building Design for Tropical Climates” considers the impact of the construction sector on climate change, estimating that the building stock that will be built in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2050 will be three times greater than the current overall building stock of Europe. The purpose of the handbook is to offer an easy-to-use tool

RNA‐Micelles as Self‐Assembling Structures for Efficient Co‐Delivery of Synergistic siRNA and Nucleoside Analogues to Treat CRC Lung Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two kinds of self‐assembled RNA micelles were used to co‐deliver synergistic siRNA and nucleoside analogues for the treatment of colorectal cancer lung metastases. Near‐complete elimination of lung cancer metastases was confirmed in an orthotopic lung metastasis model constructed using human colorectal cancer lung metastases patient surgical samples to

Three Years of Stable Water Isotope Data of Daily Rain Samples Collected from Three Geomorphic Regions of India

open access: yesScientific Data
High-frequency precipitation (solid/liquid) isotope datasets are useful for identification of moisture sources and various dynamical and thermodynamical processes controlling precipitation formation.
