Future projections for the tropical Indian Ocean
The tropical Indian Ocean has undergone basin-wide surface warming since the start of the 20th century, with a rate of 0.12°C per decade between 1950 and 2020, which is the fastest among the tropical basins. The warming penetrates the deep ocean, with an increase in the ocean heat content from the surface until 2000 m (OHC2000) at a rate of 3.7 zetta ...Roxy, M.K. +7 more

Interactions of the Indian Ocean climate with other tropical oceans
2020<p>Ocean-atmosphere interactions in the tropics have a profound influence on the climate system. El Ni&#241;o&#8211;Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which is spawned in the tropical Pacific, is the most prominent and well-known year-to-year variation on Earth.

Characteristics of North Indian Ocean Tropical Cyclone Activity
1984Abstract : Characteristics of North Indian Ocean tropical cyclones are discussed from a combined climatological, composite, and individual-case perspective. Presented are both a general discussion of the monthly climatology of these spring/autumn tropical cyclones and a comparison of their strucutre, genesis, intensity, and movement with these ...

Analyzing tropical cyclone tracks of North Indian Ocean
Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Computing for Geospatial Research & Applications - COM.Geo '11, 2011Cyclones are regarded as one of the most dangerous meteorological phenomena of the tropical region. The probability of landfall of a tropical cyclone depends on its movement (trajectory). Analysis of trajectories of tropical cyclones could be useful for identifying potentially predictable characteristics. In this study, tropical cyclone tracks over the

Surface Wind Vergence over the Tropical Indian Ocean
Journal of Applied Meteorology, 1971Abstract From surface wind estimates published in the Dutch Atlas monthly charts of surface wind vergence over the Indian Ocean down to 50S were computed. Since the original data were smoothed by a low-pass filter, the charts exhibit only regional and large-scale features.

Tropical Cyclones in the Indian Ocean 1998-2014
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2015Although long term positive trends of cyclonic activity in the Indian Ocean have been reported in a number of studies, no trend can be detected in the seventeen year period from 1998 to 2014. The results are consistent with the global warming pause hypothesis.

The glacial evolution of the tropical Indian Ocean
The tropical Indian Ocean is a key component of the ocean-atmosphere system, due to the exchanges of large amounts of heat and moisture and the interactions with the Australasian Monsoon on a range of timescales. The evolution of the tropical Indian Ocean during the last several glacial-interglacial cycles remains less documented than its Atlantic and ...Gianluca Marino +5 more
