BioTIME: A database of biodiversity time series for the Anthropocene. [PDF]
MotivationThe BioTIME database contains raw data on species identities and abundances in ecological assemblages through time. These data enable users to calculate temporal trends in biodiversity within and amongst assemblages using a broad range of ...

Freshwater environments are intertwined with human activities and the consequence has been environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. Fish provide key ecological and economic benefits, and fish abundance and diversity can be affected by human activities resulting in functional diversity (FD) changes that might scale up to ecosystem impacts ...

Review of river fisheries valuation in West and Central Africa [PDF]
This paper provides a review of the valuation of river fisheries in West and Central Africa. It is the general perception that, compared to the biological and ecological aspects of river fisheries, this particular subject area has received relatively ...

Conservation has shifted towards a climate change adaptation approach in which expected species range shifts are increasingly considered to mitigate effects of climate change and habitat fragmentation on biodiversity. As part of this, ecological connectivity needs to be ensured to support gene flow and viable populations in the face of changing ...

Turbulence and Gas Transfer Velocities in Sheltered Flooded Forests of the Amazon Basin
Seasonally flooded forests along tropical rivers cover extensive areas, yet the processes driving air‐water exchanges of radiatively active gases are uncertain. To quantify the controls on gas transfer velocities, we combined measurements of water‐column

Species and life stages of Odonata nymphs sampled with large drift nets in two Wisconsin rivers [PDF]
Because relatively few nymphs of Odonata are caught in most drift studies, they have been inconsistently reported and little is known about the species and life stages that are predisposed to drift.

The rapid adoption of environmental DNA (eDNA) methods has drastically changed biodiversity monitoring efforts. It is often claimed that eDNA methods are more sensitive and efficient than conventional biodiversity monitoring methods, but it is often unclear what metrics support this claim.
