Detecting and attributing climate change effects on vegetation: Australia as a test case
Climate change is contributing to vegetation changes that threaten life support systems. Yet, inherent climatic variability and past and present human actions—such as clearing, burning and grazing regimes—also alter vegetation and complicate understanding of vegetation change. Australian ecosystems exemplify such complexity.

Woodlands globally are threatened by environmental change and biodiversity loss. Temperate rainforests are an ecologically rich ecosystem found in wet regions of the temperate zone, and Britain has the potential for major temperate rainforest coverage in its nature‐depleted landscape.

Arthropod Distribution in a Tropical Rainforest: Tackling a Four Dimensional Puzzle
Quantifying the spatio-temporal distribution of arthropods in tropical rainforests represents a first step towards scrutinizing the global distribution of biodiversity on Earth.

Canopy laser scanning (CLS) enhances 3D measurements of large trees by lifting laser scanners into the canopy. Combining CLS with terrestrial laser scanning improves point cloud precision, reduces occlusion and enables detailed assessments of tree architecture and canopy biodiversity, opening new opportunities for forest ecology.

Anti-hypercholesterolemic effect of Zingiber montanum extract [version 2; peer review: 2 approved]
Background: High cholesterol levels (hypercholesterolemia) has been recognized to cause various disease, most notably the cardiovascular disease. Unfortunately, most anti-hypercholesterolemic drugs deliver several side effects for patients, by which ...

Spectral characterization of plant diversity in a biodiversity‐enriched oil palm plantation
How well can airborne imaging spectroscopy detect plant diversity in vertically complex agroforestry systems? We tested this in a biodiversity‐enriched oil palm plantation in Sumatra, Indonesia, using high‐resolution hyperspectral data. We calculated spectral alpha and beta diversity and compared them to field‐based plant diversity.
