Eucalypts for Tropical Rainforest (Af) climate [PDF]
Abstract The equatorial region of the world includes areas of Tropical Rainforest (Af) and Tropical Monsoon (Am) climate zones, which are distinguished by high temperatures and high rainfall, but soils which are often deficient. Potential productivity of plantation forestry in this area is high, and so are the pest and disease dangers ...

Chromolaena odorata and Ageratina adenophora are invasive species in Southern Yunnan, China; they have very differing, yet overlapping, climate niches. Both invaders produce a large number of small pappus‐bearing achenes every year. They grow in, and their seeds are dispersed to, both suitable and marginal habitats.

Optimizing SAR data processing and thresholding for forest change detection: an application for early deforestation warnings on eastern Amazonia [PDF]
The present work proposes a prototype for an operational method for early deforestation detection of cloudy tropical rainforests. The proposed methodology makes use of Sentinel-1 SAR data processed into the Google Earth Engine platform for flag the areas where the probability of recent deforestation is high.

Gaoligong Mountain is home to a large number of rare and endangered species, but the effectiveness of conservation measures in the Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve remains uncertain. We predicted the potential distribution areas of 361 rare and endangered wild plants in southern Gaoligong Mountain under current and future climate change scenarios and ...

Effects of Selection Logging on Rainforest Productivity [PDF]
An analysis of data from 212 permanent sample plots provided no evidence of any decline in rainforest productivity after three cycles of selection logging in the tropical rainforests of north Queensland. Relative productivity was determined as the difference between observed diameter increments and increments predicted from a diameter increment ...

Predation by Atractosteus tropicus on Bufo marinus and its possible affect on population in a lowland tropical wet rainforest [PDF]
Fish predation can affect amphibian populations. Most examples report invasive fish species and their negative effect on specific amphibians. Here we provide an occurrence of natural fish predation by the tropical gar Atractosteus tropicus on the cane toad Bufo marinus. We observed physical damage caused by A. tropicus attacking B. marinus.
