Advancing prediction of emerging contaminants in a tropical reservoir with general water quality indicators based on a hybrid process and data-driven approach.

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2022
Monitoring and predicting the occurrence and dynamic distributions of emerging contaminants (ECs) in the aquatic environment has always been a great challenge.

Direct measurement of open-water evaporation: a newly developed sensor applied to a Brazilian tropical reservoir

Hydrological Sciences Journal, 2022
This study investigates the sensitivity and uncertainty of evaporation assessment in a tropical reservoir in northeastern Brazil. For this purpose, four approaches were used: Penman, a Dalton-modified equation, a pressure meter and a novel acoustic ...

A comprehensive modelling approach to understanding the fate, transport and potential risks of emerging contaminants in a tropical reservoir.

Water Research, 2021
We developed a comprehensive integrated water quality modeling approach towards a better understanding of the fate and transport of emerging contaminants and comprehensive assessment of their potential risks in a tropical reservoir.

Modeling flow-related phosphorus inputs to tropical semiarid reservoirs

Journal of Environmental Management, 2021
Hydrological data and total phosphorus (TP) concentration at reservoirs' outlet were combined in a transient complete-mix model to obtain mean input loads and inlet concentration-flow relationships. This approach was designed to investigate the issue of phosphorus pollution in semiarid regions with intermittent rivers.

Evaluation of spatio-temporal variations in physico-chemical limnology, trophic status and cyanobacterial diversity of an impacted tropical reservoir, India for its sustainable management

International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2021
For natural ecosystems as well as human development, freshwater bodies like reservoirs are critically important. Krishnagiri reservoir, a moderately impacted tropical reservoir of India, is an important source of freshwater.

Microbial Food-Web Drivers in Tropical Reservoirs

Microbial Ecology, 2016
Element cycling in aquatic systems is driven chiefly by planktonic processes, and the structure of the planktonic food web determines the efficiency of carbon transfer through trophic levels. However, few studies have comprehensively evaluated all planktonic food-web components in tropical regions.

Snail Marisa Cornuarietis in Tropical Hydroelectric Reservoirs

Journal of Environmental Engineering, 1984
For 3 yr, populations of Marisa cornuarietis, the ampullarid snail used in bilharzia control, were monitored in 28 hydroelectric and multi‐purpose reservoirs in Puerto Rico to establish the habitat requirements for this biological control agent.

Algal Bioassays of two tropical Rhodesian Reservoirs

Acta hydrochimica et hydrobiologica, 1975
AbstractPossible nitrogen and phosphorus limitation of algal growth in two tropical impoundments was investigated using pure culture bioassays. The test organism was Selenastrum capricornutum. Phosphorus was indicated as a primary growth limiting nutrient in Mazoe Dam while in Lake McIlwaine nitrogen was generally indicated as limiting.

Zooplankton Distribution in Tropical Reservoirs, South China

International Review of Hydrobiology, 2003
AbstractThe zooplankton of 18 reservoirs of South China was investigated in 2000. 61 Rotifera species, 23 Cladoceras and 14 Copepodas were identified. The most frequent Rotifera genera were Keratella, Brachionus, Trichocerca, Diurella, Ascomorpha, Polyarthra, Ploesoma, Asplanchna, Pompholyx and Conochilus.

Ecosystem history of a tropical reservoir revealed by metals, nutrients and photosynthetic pigments preserved in sediments

, 2020
Many studies have found evidence of processes of eutrophication and contamination by metals in reservoirs worldwide. The present work discusses the history of changes associated with anthropic impacts in a tropical reservoir (Sao Paulo, Brazil), using ...
