Chromosome-level genome assembly of Nothapodytes nimmoniana

open access: yesScientific Data
Nothapodytes nimmoniana is a plant species belonging to the genus Nothapodytes in the family Icacinaceae. This species holds significant medicinal value due to its camptothecin content. In this study, we present the first chromosome-level genome assembly

Evolutionary dynamics of the chloroplast genome in Daphne (Thymelaeaceae): comparative analysis with related genera and insights into phylogenetics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

The chromosome-scale genomes of two Tinospora species reveal differential regulation of the MEP pathway in terpenoid biosynthesis

open access: yesBMC Biology
Background The relationship between gene family expansion and the resulting changes in plant phenotypes has shown remarkable complexity during the evolution.

De novo assembling a complete mitochondrial genome of Pedicularis rex (Orobanchaceae) using GetOrganelle toolkit

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
We reported the first mitogenome of Pedicularis from P. rex (Orobanchaceae), which is endemic to SW China. The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome or chondriome) was a single circular chromosome that was 219,859 bp in length.

PRELIVE: A Framework for Predicting Lipid Nanoparticles In Vivo Efficacy and Reducing Reliance on Animal Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PREdicting LNP In Vivo Efficacy (PRELIVE) framework enables the prediction of lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) organ‐specific delivery through dual modeling approaches. Composition‐based models using formulation parameters and protein corona‐based models using biological fingerprints both achieve high predictive accuracy across multiple organs.

High midday temperature stress has stronger effects on biomass than on photosynthesis: A mesocosm experiment on four tropical seagrass species

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2018
The effect of repeated midday temperature stress on the photosynthetic performance and biomass production of seagrass was studied in a mesocosm setup with four common tropical species, including Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea serrulata, Enhalus ...

Migration and Species Diversity in the Tropics [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1974
If the young of a dominant species are subjected to disproportionately heavy predation, this, together with a limitation on food, can promote a high species diversity. This is seen among tropical birds, which are simultaneously exposed to both conditions to a far greater degree than are Temperate Zone species.

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

DNA barcoding analysis and phylogenetic relationships of tree species in tropical cloud forests

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
DNA barcoding is a useful tool for species identification and phylogenetic construction. But present studies have far reached a consistent result on the universality of DNA barcoding. We tested the universality of tree species DNA barcodes including rbcL,
