Aerosol chemical composition and distribution during the Pacific Exploratory Mission (PEM) Tropics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Distributions of aerosol-associated soluble ions over much of the South Pacific were determined by sampling from the NASA DC-8 as part of the Pacific Exploratory Mission (PEM) Tropics campaign. The mixing ratios of all ionic species were surprisingly low

Integration of Phytomelatonin Signaling With Jasmonic Acid in Wound‐induced Adventitious Root Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 11, March 20, 2025.
Melatonin applied to the wounded tomato stems is detected by SlPMTR1/2, which activates the downstream transcription factor SlSBRL1 through the G protein SlGPA1. SlSBRL1 amplifies the signal by enhancing its expression, promoting wound‐stimulated AR regeneration by regulating genes related to cell wall development and remodeling.

Biomimetic Pyramid Structure Film for Enhancing Building Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 14, April 10, 2025.
Taking inspirations from the special surface structure of natural heat‐resistant organisms, a biomimetic micro‐pyramid‐shaped radiative cooling film is fabricated by integrating high dielectric constant materials with polymers. The resulting film boasts a solar reflectance of 97.3%, an exceeding 98% infrared light emission within the atmospheric window

Genome-wide association study and expression of candidate genes for Fe and Zn concentration in sorghum grains

open access: yesScientific Reports
Sorghum germplasm showed grain Fe and Zn genetic variability, but a few varieties were biofortified with these minerals. This work contributes to narrowing this gap.

Convective injection and photochemical decay of peroxides in the tropical upper troposphere: Methyl iodide as a tracer of marine convection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The convective injection and subsequent fate of the peroxides H2O2 and CH3OOH in the upper troposphere is investigated using aircraft observations from the NASA Pacific Exploratory Mission-Tropics A (PEM-Tropics A) over the South Pacific up to 12 km ...

Airborne sampling of aerosol particles: Comparison between surface sampling at Christmas Island and P-3 sampling during PEM-Tropics B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Bulk aerosol sampling of soluble ionic compounds from the NASA Wallops Island P-3 aircraft and a tower on Christmas Island during PEM-Tropics B provides an opportunity to assess the magnitude of particle losses in the University of New Hampshire airborne

The Innate Immune Sensor Zbp1 Mediates Central Nervous System Inflammation Induced by Angiostrongylus Cantonensis by Promoting Macrophage Inflammatory Phenotypes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 11, March 20, 2025.
This study reveals that Zbp1 plays a pivotal role in regulating neuroimmune interactions during Angiostrongylus cantonensis (AC) infection. Zbp1 modulates lymphocyte infiltration and natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity by promoting cytokine secretion and M1 polarization of macrophages, shaping the CNS immune microenvironment.

The Semi‐Natural Climate Chambers across Latitudes: A Broadly Applicable Husbandry and Experimental System for Terrestrial Ectotherms under Climate Change

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Assessing species' vulnerabilities across geographical gradients is essential for biodiversity conservation under climate change. To address this challenge, the semi‐natural climate chamber across latitudes (SCCAL) is developed, a validated system capable of simulating thermal environments for ecological experiments without reliance on water or ...

Comparative sequence analysis of nitrogen fixation-related genes in six legumes

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
Legumes play an important role as food and forage crops in international agriculture especially in developing countries. Legumes have a unique biological process called nitrogen fixation (NF) by which they convert atmospheric nitrogen to ammonia ...
