A NEW SPECIES OF LIOLAEMUS FROM SOUTHERN BRAZIL (IGUANIA: TROPIDURIDAE)
We describe a new species of the genus Liolaemus from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The morphology of the new species, L. arambarensis sp. nov, is compared to other species of Liolaemus of the “wiegmannii” group. The new species is distinguished from others members of this group by a dorsal color pattern with a medium dorsal white stripe and two ...

THE ABDOMINAL SKELETON OF TROPIDURID LIZARDS (SQUAMATA: TROPIDURIDAE)
Herpetologica, 2004Morphological variation in the abdominal skeleton of Tropiduridae was examined from radiographs and cleared-and-stained specimens of 61 species. Based on the numbers of xiphisternal and postxiphisternal inscriptional ribs, as well as the presence of inscriptional ribs articulating ventromedially, seven patterns of rib attachment are described.

Evolution of Galapagos Island Lava Lizards (Iguania: Tropiduridae: Microlophus)
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2004Nucleotide sequences of mitochondrial genes (ND1, ND2, COI, and tRNAs) were determined for 38 samples representing 15 taxa of tropidurid lizards from the Galapagos Islands and mainland South America. Phylogenetically informative characters (759 of 1,956) were analyzed under Bayesian, maximum likelihood, and parsimony frameworks. This study supports the
