Geographical Karyotypic Variations and Chromosome Banding Patterns inTropidurus Hispidus(Sauria, Iguanidae) from Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesCaryologia, 1987
SUMMARYKaryotypic data are presented for Tropidurus hispidus (Sauria, Iguanidae) collected at six different localities in Brazil. The specimens from all the populations share the same basic 2n = 36 karyotype characterized by 12 macrochromosomes and 24 microchromosomes. The X is an acrocentric microchromosome and the Y, a minute microchromosome.

ERYTHROLAMPRUS MILIARIS (LINNAEUS, 1758) (SQUAMATA: DIPSADIDAE) A NEW PREY ITEM OF TROPIDURUS TORQUATUS (WIED-NEUWIED, 1820) (SQUAMATA: TROPIDURIDAE) IN SOUTHEASTERN BRAZIL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Although ophiophagy is not a well-known event among neotropical lizards, occasional snake predation events have been reported for some species. For Tropidurus torquatus only one record of predation on Phalotris matogrossensis is currently known.

Predation of Tropidurus hispidus (Spix, 1825) by Philodryas natteri (Steindachner, 1870) in the Caatinga.

open access: yesCiência e Natura, 2022
Here, we describe the sighting of Philodryas nattereri preying on a Tropidurus hispidus lizard in Sento-Sé – Bahia, Brazil, located in the central portion of the Caatinga, in a high priority conservation area of the biome. The event was observed in April 2021. This study provides information on the diet of this animal in the Caatinga biome.
