Tropidurus torquatus (Wied) (Calango) 2n = 36 (37, 38)

1973
The karyotypes were obtained by squash preparations of intestine. An intraindividual and intrapopulational karyotype variation in number apparently due to supernumerary chromosomes was observed in the iguanids from Minas Gerais and Maranhao, Brazil: 2n = 36 (12 + 24m), 2n = 37 (13M + 24m) and 2n = 38 (14M + 24m).

Reproduction in neotropical Tropidurus lizards (Tropiduridae): evaluating the effect of environmental factors on T. torquatus

Amphibia-Reptilia, 2010
AbstractLizards exhibit a wide array of reproductive strategies. For tropical lizards, a single reproductive pattern is not evident, and the actual determinants of seasonality in reproduction remain unclear. Tropidurus torquatus is the most widely distributed species of the genus in Brazil and occurs in coastal and inland areas, and in islands off the ...

Histochemistry of the kidney of the tropical lizard Tropidurus torquatus.

Gegenbaurs morphologisches Jahrbuch, 1983
A histochemical analysis of glycoproteins, proteins, and some enzymes was done in kidneys from adult male lizards. The enzymes belong to different pathways of the cell metabolism which include EMBDEN-MEYERHOF and pentose-phosphate pathways, KREBS cycle, and to the lipid and protein metabolism.

Spermiogenesis and testicular cycle of the lizard Tropidurus torquatus (Squamata, Tropiduridae) in the Cerrado of central Brazil

Amphibia-Reptilia, 2001
Abstract We studied the spermiogenesis and testicular cycle of the lizard Tropidurus torquatus, using light and electron microscopy. Males bearing spermatozoa were present practically year-round and spermatogenic activity showed a regenerative phase from late dry season to the end of the rainy season (July to ...

Reproductive Ecology of Tropidurus torquatus (Squamata: Tropiduridae) in the Highly Seasonal Cerrado Biome of Central Brazil

Journal of Herpetology, 2002
Abstract We studied the reproductive cycle of Tropidurus torquatus in the Cerrado biome of central Brazil from October 1997 to September 1998. Females reached sexual maturity at about 65 mm snout–vent length (SVL), whereas males became sexually mature at 70 mm SVL. Females were reproductively active between August and February, although males contained

Helminth Community Structure of Tropidurus torquatus (Squamata: Tropiduridae) in a Rocky Outcrop Area of Minas Gerais State, Southeastern Brazil

Journal of Parasitology, 2012
The helminth community of Tropidurus torquatus (Squamata: Tropiduridae) from a rocky outcrop area located in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, was studied. Ninety-two of the 110 individuals examined (83.6%) harbored helminths. Five species were found, including 3 nematodes ( Physaloptera lutzi , Parapharyngodon bainae , and Oswaldofilaria

Morphological and morphometrical study of the kidney of the male tropical lizard Tropidurus torquatus.

Anatomischer Anzeiger, 1985
A morphological and morphometrical study of the adult male Tropidurus torquatus kidney was undertaken. The nephron is composed of the following segments: renal corpuscle, neck segment, proximal convoluted tubule, intermediate segment, and distal tubule. The nephron is continued into the collecting duct and sexual segment.
