Physiological Basis of Sex Differences in Human Performance and Exercise‐Associated Pathology

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, Volume 105, Issue 2, Page 151-162, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The presence of sex differences in human physical performance is well‐established and shaped by distinct endocrine, anatomical and physiological mechanisms. Despite sustained advances, our understanding of how inherent biological factors drive variations in exercise capacity and related pathologies is still developing.

Studying Phosphoroorganic Modification of Smac‐Mimetics to Boost Selectivity for cIAP1‐BIR3 and Unravel cIAP1/XIAP Molecular Inhibition Mechanisms

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2026.
The phosphoroorganic modification of Smac‐mimetics (SMs) drives selectivity for cIAP1‐ over XIAP‐BIR3. The divalent SM 6 partially dimerizes cIAP1, whereas it prefers intramolecular binding in XIAP. In XIAP the phosphoroorganic moiety of the monovalent SM 7 functions as an IBM, thus inhibiting both BIR2 and BIR3. Created in BioRender.

Detection of a Target Nucleic Acid by Ligation‐Assisted Fluorescence Enhancement of a Peptide Nucleic Acid (PNA) Twin Probe via Disulfide Binding

open access: yesBiopolymers, Volume 117, Issue 4, July 2026.
Target‐induced disulfide ligation of PNA twin probes promotes pyrene excimer formation for nucleic acid detection. ABSTRACT The development of methods for detecting specific nucleic acids is important for early diagnosis and treatment of diseases at the genetic level.

Probing Steady‐State Carrier Properties and Charge Transport in Covalent Organic Framework by Frequency‐Domain Terahertz Spectroscopy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 25, 15 June 2026.
This work reports a combined frequency‐domain and time‐domain terahertz (THz) spectroscopic approach to elucidate intrinsic carrier properties and transport mechanisms in framework materials over the extended 0.5–20 THz region. Subtle structural and chemical variations are shown to strongly influence THz charge‐transport behavior across the far ...

Mycorrhizal legacy mediates seedling success following timber harvesting in Northeastern forests

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 36, Issue 5, July 2026.
Abstract Overstory trees rely on arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) or ectomycorrhizal (EcM) fungi for establishment and growth. However, we know very little about how timber harvesting affects the biotic (e.g., mycorrhizal fungi) and abiotic (e.g., nutrient availability) legacies left behind by AM and EcM trees.

Low testosterone levels in men at age 31 associates with future risk of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes: A birth cohort study

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 1209-1219, July 2026.
Abstract Objective We aimed to investigate the association of a low serum testosterone concentration with the risk of abnormal glucose metabolism (i.e., prediabetes and type 2 diabetes) in men at a 15‐year follow‐up. Study population and methods In a population birth cohort, men with low testosterone (testosterone < 12.1 nmol/L, n = 136) and normal ...

The use of artificial intelligence in public broadcasting: A field study on TRT World and TRT Arabic

open access: yes
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping global media workflows, yet evidence on organisational readiness, benefits, risks, and implementation pathways remains fragmented, particularly for public service broadcasters. By adopting a qualitative research methodology, this study aims to examine the use of artificial intelligence in public ...
