True Triaxial Study on Aeolian Sand Subgrade
Abstract The drained shear tests of aeolian sand in Tengger Desert were carried out by using the British GDS true triaxial apparatus, and the shear strength and stress-strain relationships of aeolian sand were studied under the conditions of constant average principal stress and different intermediate principal stress coefficients.

On-sample water content measurement for a complete local monitoring in triaxial testing of unsaturated soils [PDF]
To provide a complete local monitoring of the state of an unsaturated soil sample during triaxial testing, a local water content measurement device was adapted to a triaxial device comprising the measurement of local displacements (Hall effect ...

Use of elastic stability analysis to explain the stress-dependent nature of soil strength [PDF]
The peak and critical state strengths of sands are linearly related to the stress level, just as the frictional resistance to sliding along an interface is related to the normal force. The analogy with frictional sliding has led to the use of a ‘friction

Strength and deformation properties of frozen sand under a true triaxial stress condition
In recent years, the mechanical properties of frozen soils under complex stress states have attracted significant attention; however, limited by the test apparatus, true triaxial tests on frozen soils have rarely been conducted. To study the strength and

An MCMC Fitting Method for Triaxial Dark Matter Haloes [PDF]
Measuring the 3D distribution of mass on galaxy cluster scales is a crucial test of the LCDM model, providing constraints on the behaviour of dark matter. Recent work investigating mass distributions of individual galaxy clusters (e.g.

The role of fluid pressure in induced vs. triggered seismicity. Insights from rock deformation experiments on carbonates [PDF]
Fluid overpressure is one of the primary mechanisms for tectonic fault slip, because fluids lubricate the fault and fluid pressure reduces the effective normal stress that holds the fault in place.
