Proteomic insights into changes in grapevine wood in response to esca proper and apoplexy

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2014
Among fungal grapevine trunk diseases, esca proper poses a significant threat for viticulture. Apoplexy, mainly occurring on grapevines affected by esca proper, is also a threat.

Variations in early response of grapevine wood depending on wound and inoculation combinations with Phaeoacremonium aleophilum and Phaeomoniella chlamydospora

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Defense mechanisms in woody tissue are poorly understood, especially in vine colonized by trunk pathogens. However, several investigations suggest that molecular mechanisms in the central tissue of Vitis vinifera L.

Botryosphaeria spp. as Grapevine Trunk Disease Pathogens

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2006
Several species of Botryosphaeria, including Botryosphaeria dothidea, B. obtusa, B. parva and B. australis, were isolated and/or described from declining grapevines in association with a wide range of decline and dieback symptoms. Internal wood symptoms most commonly included black streaking, wedge-shaped necrosis and brown internal necrosis.

Detection of grapevine leaf stripe disease symptoms by hyperspectral sensor

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2018
Hyperspectral sensors can measure reflectance in a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum. These can be used as an indirect method for detecting plant disease, by comparing the specific spectral signatures between symptomatic and asymptomatic ...

Fungi associated with grapevine trunk diseases in nursery-produced Vitis vinifera plants

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2018
Grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) are one of the most important groups of fungal diseases affecting grapevine plants worldwide. One of the main causes of GTDs infection occur during nursery plant production processes.

Trunk Surgery as a Tool to Reduce Foliar Symptoms in Diseases of the Esca Complex and Its Influence on Vine Wood Microbiota

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2021
In the last few years, trunk surgery has gained increasing attention as a method to reduce foliar symptoms typical of some of the Esca complex diseases. The technique relies on the mechanical removal of decayed wood by a chainsaw.
