Extracellular compounds produced by fungi associated with Botryosphaeria dieback induce differential defence gene expression patterns and necrosis in Vitis vinifera cv. Chardonnay cells [PDF]
Three major grapevine trunk diseases, esca, botryosphaeria dieback and eutypa dieback, pose important economic problems for vineyards worldwide, and currently, no efficient treatment is available to control these diseases.

Reliability and validity of a scale for measurement of trunk mobility in Parkinson's disease: Trunk Mobility Scale [PDF]
Axial rigidity is an important motor manifestation in Parkinson's disease (PD). Trunk mobility impairment can cause gait, balance and postural problems. However, only few instruments analyze the trunk mobility in PD patients. The aim of this study is to present a new Trunk Mobility Scale (TMS) and its validation in PD.

Using iPSC‐derived motoneurons and postmortem tissue from FUS‐ALS patients, it is demonstrated that increased mitochondrial transcription leads to elevated cytosolic double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) levels. This aberrant accumulation activates a RIG‐I–dependent innate immune response leading to neurodegeneration, which is amenable for FDA‐ and EMA‐approved ...

Sugar palm (Argena pinnata). Potential of sugar palm for bio-ethanol production [PDF]
The energetic and economic feasibility of bioethanol production from sugar palm is virtually unknown. A positive factor are the potentially very high yields while the long non-productive juvenile phase and the high labor needs can be seen as problematic.

Grapevine trunk diseases: complex and still poorly understood [PDF]
This review presents an overview of eutypa dieback, esca and botryosphaeria dieback, the predominant grapevine trunk diseases worldwide. It covers their symptomatologies in the trunk, leaves and berries; the characteristics of the different fungal species associated with them; and host–pathogen interactions. Here, the host–pathogen

Wedelolactone (WED), a natural TLR2 agonist, promotes neutrophil differentiation and enhances bactericidal function, offering a potential therapeutic strategy for neutropenia. Using a multi‐omics approach, this study reveals that WED activates the TLR2/MEK/ERK pathway, upregulating key transcription factors (PU.1, CEBPβ) to drive neutrophil development.
