Seismic Retrofitting of a Pre‐code Five‐storey R/C Building with an Innovative Induction Hardened Steel Exoskeleton

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 2647-2653, September 2026.
Abstract This study investigates an innovative seismic retrofitting solution for existing R/C buildings based on externally installed vertical steel trusses, known as the i‐EXOS system (exoskeleton), and develops a performance‐based seismic design method for its implementation.

Finite Element Modelling of Demountable Truss Joints with Rectangular Hollow Sections and Self‐Drilling Screws

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 785-790, September 2026.
Abstract Demountable joints in steel construction have significant roles in enhancing sustainability in the built environment, as it encourages the reusability. Demountable truss joints investigated in this paper consist of truss elements with Rectangular Hollow Sections (RHS) assembled using self‐drilling screws.

Compression design of built‐up members suffering from major/minor axes coupled instabilities

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 1931-1936, September 2026.
Abstract This study examines the flexural buckling behavior of compressive built‐up members in steel truss bridges, with emphasis on the interaction between major‐ and minor‐axis buckling. When the critical loads about the two axes are close, their coupling significantly reduces axial resistance.

The Synthesis and Mechanism of AlB2‐KAlF4 Composites Prepared by Self‐Propagating High Temperature Synthesis Method

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.
AlB2‐KAlF4 composites were fabricated via SHS using Al and KBF4. Phase evolution, microstructure, and reaction mechanism were characterized. KBF4/Al melting initiates the reaction; BF3‐Al redox yields AlB2 and KAIF4 with distinct morphologies. ABSTRACT Using Al and KBF4 as raw materials, AlB2‐KAlF4 composites were synthesized by self‐propagating high ...

Concept, Tests, and Optimum Design of Novel Negative Stiffness Friction Dampers for Seismic Protection of Long‐Span Bridges

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 11, Page 2719-2741, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Viscous dampers (VDs) are widely used to mitigate the excessive responses of long‐span bridges. However, VDs face some intricate challenges in engineering practices, including high damping coefficient requirement, potential base shear amplification and tremendous damping force under high velocity. To address these issues, this study develops a
