Buckling analysis of elastically clamped laminated plates using third‐order shear deformation theory

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 20, Issue 1, January 2021., 2021
Abstract This paper considers the buckling of transverse shear‐deformable orthotropic laminated plates under uniaxial compression, which is modeled with the third‐order shear deformation theory (TSDT). The consideration of transverse shear deformation is relevant for plates with small transverse shear stiffness or small length to thickness ratio.

Free Vibration of Thick FGM Plates under TSDT and Thermal Environment

open access: yesProceedings of Engineering and Technology Innovation, 2021
Three parameters of thermal environment, varied calculated shear correction, and third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) of displacement are important in the frequency study. These three effects have been studied on the non-dimensional and dimensional frequencies of thick FGM plates.

Free Vibration of Annular Circular Plates Based on Higher‐Order Shear Deformation Theory: A Spline Approximation Technique

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
This research is based on higher‐order shear deformation theory to analyse the free vibration of composite annular circular plates using the spline approximation technique. Equilibrium equations are derived, and differential equations in terms of displacement and rotational functions are obtained.

Research on the mechanical behaviour of functionally graded porous sandwich plates using a new C1 finite element procedure

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
This article develops a new C1 rectangular element based on Shi's third-order shear deformation plate theory (TSDT) for the static and dynamic analysis of functionally graded porous (FGP) sandwich plates.

The Third‐Order Shear Deformation Theory for Modeling the Static Bending and Dynamic Responses of Piezoelectric Bidirectional Functionally Graded Plates

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
This work is the first exploration of the static bending and dynamic response analyses of piezoelectric bidirectional functionally graded plates by combining the third‐order shear deformation theory of Reddy and the finite element approach, which can numerically model mechanical relations of the structure.

Free vibration analysis of a cylindrical micro-shell based on MCST

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2022
Dynamic analysis of a functionally-graded (FG) cylindrical micro shell is investigated in this work. Effect of small parameter in micro scale is included in fundamental relations based on modified couple stress theory (MCST).

Advanced Frequency Study of Thick FGM Cylindrical Shells by Using TSDT and Nonlinear Shear

open access: yesMaterials Plus, 2022
For the advanced frequency study of thick functionally graded material (FGM) circular cylindrical shells, it is interesting to consider the extra effects of nonlinear coefficient term in third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) of displacements on the calculation of varied shear correction coefficient.
