Antimicrobial bilayer starch film containing zein electrospun fibers encapsulating thyme essential oil for cherry tomato packaging

Abstract Background This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of thyme essential oil (TEO) encapsulated in electrospun zein fibers for use in bilayer films as active packaging for cherry tomatoes. The antimicrobial activity of TEO and bilayer films with 20%, 40%, and 60% TEO was assessed with agar diffusion and microatmosphere assays.

ABSTRACT Cavity ring‐down spectroscopy (CRDS) and quantum cascade laser absorption spectroscopy (QCLAS), in conjunction with pulsed laser photolysis, were employed to investigate the reaction between phenylperoxy radicals (C6H5O2) and nitric oxide (NO) at a temperature of 296 ± 4 K. The experiment was carried out under N2 as bath gas.

An invasional meltdown can occur when a non‐native species facilitates the spread of another non‐native species in the invaded area, increasing its likelihood of survival or its ecological impact.
