Generation of two-dimensional water waves by moving bottom disturbances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate the potential and limitations of the wave generation by disturbances moving at the bottom. More precisely, we assume that the wavemaker is composed of an underwater object of a given shape which can be displaced according to a prescribed ...

Design Features in Multiple Generations of Electronic Cigarette Atomizers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The design of electronic cigarette (EC) atomizing units has evolved since their introduction over 10 years ago. The purpose of this study was to evaluate atomizer design in ECs sold between 2011-2017.

Ship generated mini-tsunamis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2017
Very long waves are generated when a ship moves across an appreciable depth change $\unicode[STIX]{x0394}h$ comparable to the average and relatively shallow water depth $h$ at the location, with $\unicode[STIX]{x0394}h/h\simeq 1$. The phenomenon is new and the waves were recently observed in the Oslofjord in Norway.

The 3‐Hit Metabolic Signaling Model for Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Summary

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a highly heritable yet environmentally sensitive neurodevelopmental condition whose biological heterogeneity has resisted a unifying causal explanation for over 100 years. The 3‐hit metabolic signaling model proposes that ASD arises from abnormal persistence of an evolutionarily conserved stress‐response ...

TSUNAMI RISK ASSESSMENT MODELLING IN CHABAHAR PORT, IRAN [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2017
The well-known historical tsunami in the Makran Subduction Zone (MSZ) region was generated by the earthquake of November 28, 1945 in Makran Coast in the North of Oman Sea.

Modeling near-field tsunami observations to improve finite-fault slip models for the 11 March 2011 Tohoku earthquake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The massive tsunami generated by the 11 March 2011 Tohoku earthquake (M_w 9.0) was widely recorded by GPS buoys, wave gauges, and ocean bottom pressure sensors around the source.

A TWO-LAYER NON-HYDROSTATIC LANDSLIDE MODEL FOR TSUNAMI GENERATION ON IRREGULAR BATHYMETRY

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 2018
In this study, a two-layer landslide model is presented for investigating submarine landslides and generated waves that propagate over irregular bathymetry.

Climate Change Risks and Customer Concentration: Evidence From US‐Listed Firms

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While prior studies have investigated climate risks in supply chains, customer ESG pressures, and shared climate exposure, this paper is, to the best of our knowledge, the first to provide direct empirical evidence on the relationship between climate change risks and firms' customer concentration.

Numerical simulation of conservation laws with moving grid nodes: Application to tsunami wave modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the present article we describe a few simple and efficient finite volume type schemes on moving grids in one spatial dimension combined with appropriate predictor-corrector method to achieve higher resolution.

From Green Governance to Biodiversity Strategy: The Role of Environmentally Experienced Directors in Chinese Firms

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how directors with environmental protection (EP) backgrounds influence corporate biodiversity concern (BIO) among Chinese A‐share listed firms from 2008 to 2023. Drawing on Upper Echelons Theory, we argue that directors' environmental expertise shapes firms' biodiversity strategies.
