Short-Term Inundation Forecasting for Tsunamis

2003
Since 1997, PMEL has been involved in the R’D effort to provide tsunami-forecasting capabilities for the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC) in Hawaii. As a part of this effort, modeling tools for the short-term forecasting, and assessing the risk of tsunami inundation have been developed.

Conditional Expected Tsunami Inundation for Hawaii

Journal of the Waterways, Harbors and Coastal Engineering Division, 1975
Values were reported for a priori estimates of expected tsunami inundation — conditioned by values for epicenter location and tsunami magnitude. Those values of conditional expected tsunami inundation (CETI) were restricted to coastal locations having historical observations of tsunamis.

Tohoku Inundation Spurs Hunt for Ancient Tsunamis

Science, 2011
Sand layers beneath Japan's Sendai Plain and other regions are evidence of massive tsunamis that struck eons ago and may augur future disaster risk.

Producing Tsunami Inundation Maps: The California Experience

2003
More than 20 tsunami events have impacted the State of California in the past two centuries. While some earlier 19th century reports are subject to interpretation, there is little question that offshore seismic sources exist, and could trigger tsunamis directly or through coseismic submarine offshore landslides or slumps. Given the intense coastal land

WA Tsunami Inundation Modelling, Geraldton to Dunsborough

This report details tsunami inundation modelling for the Western Australia (WA) coast, spanning from Geraldton to Dunsborough. The focus is on tsunami hazards in nearshore and onshore coastal regions due to large plate-boundary earthquakes in the Indian Ocean.

NSW Coast Tsunami Inundation Modelling; Final Report

This report describes earthquake-tsunami inundation hazard modelling for the entire NSW coast including Lord Howe Island, conducted by Geoscience Australia in partnership with the NSW State Emergency Services. The modelling considers tsunamis generated by earthquakes on major Pacific Ocean subduction zones, using the 2018 Australian Probabilistic ...
