Homology modeling and molecular dynamics provide structural insights into tospovirus nucleoprotein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Tospovirus is a plant-infecting genus within the family Bunyaviridae, which also includes four animalinfecting genera: Hantavirus, Nairovirus, Phlebovirus and Orthobunyavirus.

Virus‐Inducible Activation of Hypersensitive Response Confers Broad‐Spectrum Resistance to Diverse Viruses in Plants

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 26, Issue 12, December 2025.
Using a virus‐inducible promoter to drive the expression of the Avr4/Cf‐4 gene pair can trigger a hypersensitive response upon viral infection, which confers plants broad‐spectrum resistance to geminiviruses. ABSTRACT The hypersensitive response (HR) is a powerful plant defence mechanism that restricts pathogen spread through localised cell death ...

NSs, the Silencing Suppressor of Tomato Spotted Wilt Orthotospovirus, Interferes With JA-Regulated Host Terpenoids Expression to Attract Frankliniella occidentalis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Tomato spotted wilt orthotospovirus (TSWV) causes serious crop losses worldwide and is transmitted by Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae).

Groundnut Ringspot Orthotospovirus: An Emerging Problem for Soybean Production in São Paulo State

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 74, Issue 9, Page 2846-2856, December 2025.
Groundnut ringspot orthotospovirus is widely distributed in soybean fields in São Paulo State and is transmitted by thrips and, rarely, via seeds; it is a threat to soybean production with implications for virus spread and management. ABSTRACT Orthotospoviruses affect vegetable, leguminous and ornamental plants globally and are transmitted by thrips ...

Breeding for quantitative disease resistance: Case studies, emerging approaches, and exploiting pathogen variation

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Abstract Host resistance, using qualitative genes with major effects, such as resistance (R) genes, is one of the most effective disease control strategies. However, because major gene‐derived resistance wanes over time, breeders must increasingly focus on quantitative trait loci and minor effect genes, which, when pyramided together, can confer ...

Tomatenbronsvlekkenvirus (TSWV) in paprika

open access: yes, 2009
