Cisplatin sensitivity of testis tumour cells is due to deficiency in interstrand-crosslink repair and low ERCC1-XPF expression

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2010
Background Cisplatin based chemotherapy cures over 80% of metastatic testicular germ cell tumours (TGCT). In contrast, almost all other solid cancers in adults are incurable once they have spread beyond the primary site. Cell lines derived from TGCTs are

β‐Adducin Restrains PLA2G4A‐Dependent Lysosomal Membrane Permeabilization and Neuronal Death in Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies β‐adducin as a regulator of lysosomal integrity in ischemic neurons. Ischemia‐associated FTO loss increases m6A modification and destabilizes Add2 mRNA, reducing β‐adducin expression and promoting PLA2G4A accumulation at lysosomes.

Electrocardiographic and Seasonal Patterns Allow Accurate Differentiation of Tako-Tsubo Cardiomyopathy from Acute Anterior Myocardial Infarction: Results of a Multicenter Study and Systematic Overview of Available Studies

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2019
Background. Though several studies about prevalence, etiology, clinical characteristics, preceding events, clinical management, and outcome of Tako-Tsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) exist, the current knowledge of TTC remains limited. Objective.

TTC distribution for LHC detectors [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1998
At each of the CERN LHC experiments, timing, trigger and control (TTC) signals must be distributed to numerous electronic systems from a single location in the vicinity of the central trigger processor. A multichannel optical distribution system has been developed which can broadcast the signals to several thousand destinations from a few relatively ...

Majority‐Voting Overlapping Method for Error Correction in DNA Data Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We propose an overlapping‐based majority‐voting method for DNA data storage error correction. By aligning multiple reads and choosing the most frequent base per position, it suppresses substitution errors without prior models. Validated on synthetic and real sequencing data, it achieves high‐fidelity, scalable, and cost‐effective reconstruction ...

Potential of Mesenchymal Stem Cell based application in Cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hematology-Oncology and Stem Cell Research, 2015
Stem cell based treatments are being increasingly explored for their possible potential to treat various cancers. Mesenchymal stem cells believed to possess anti-tumor potential and are preferred for their properties like immune privileged nature ...

Animal stroke models and outcome evaluation: A review

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Rodents are the preeminent stroke model species. Large animal models exist too, but are poorly standardized. Ischemic and hemorrhagic experimental models are available, with the intraluminal filament model being predominant. Outcomes are evaluated via quantifying subjects' sensorimotor impairment, cognitive memory faculties, degree of cellular ...

Placing the transtibial centralisation stitch at the posterior horn of the medial meniscus best restores tibiofemoral contact mechanics and extrusion following medial meniscus posterior root tears: An in vitro biomechanical study using porcine knee joints

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose To evaluate whether the position of the transtibial centralisation tunnel, on the background of an anatomical transtibial pull‐through root repair (ATPR), affects the tibiofemoral contact mechanics and meniscal extrusion for medial meniscus ...

Cancer therapy-associated Takotsubo cardiomyopathy: A narrative review of mechanisms, drug associations, and clinical implications

open access: yesAmerican Heart Journal Plus
Anticancer therapies have been increasingly associated with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC). As prior reports remain fragmented across case studies and drug-specific reviews, this paper offers one of the most comprehensive reviews to date of cancer ...
