Ripples in Tapped or Blown Powder

We observe ripples forming on the surface of a granular powder in a container submitted from below to a series of brief and distinct shocks. After a few taps, the pattern turns out to be stable against any further shock of the same amplitude.

As part of the HEU Blend Down project, aluminum tape is required to seal aluminum tubes that will hold contaminated Mark 22 fuel tubes for dissolution. From a large field of candidate tapes, Avery Dennison's Fasson 0802 tape (synthetic rubber adhesive system) was found to be acceptable for this application.

NMR screening of low molecular weight inhibitors targeting the papain‐like protease (PLPro) of SARS‐CoV‐2

Papain‐like protease from SARS‐CoV‐2 plays an important role in the cleavage of the viral polyproteins and in the suppression of the host's immune response. CD9‐association with PIP2 areas is regulated by a CD9 salt bridge

The tetraspanin CD9 has an intracellular salt bridge. If CD9 opens, open‐CD9 moves from PIP2‐rich areas to regions populated by its interaction partner EWI‐2. Hence, the state of the salt bridge regulates the distribution of CD9 and by this CD9‐EWI‐2 complex formation.
