Hydroforming (Sheets and Tubes)
2014Hydroforming is a soft tool forming process, where a liquid medium, generally water with a small percentage of added oil, is pressurized and controlled by means of a hydraulic circuit and used to deform the workpiece, either a tube or a sheet, into the final component shape.

Further Development on Tube Hydroforming
2015Tube hydroforming is a technology of manufacturing tubular products, in which a tube set in a die is deformed by internal high pressure and axial feeding from both ends of the tube in accordance with the die shape. The origin of tube hydroforming is T-forming, by which a branch is formed in a tube by hydraulic bulging.

Tube Hydroforming: Efficiency and Effectiveness of Pressure Sequence Hydroforming
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998<div class="htmlview paragraph">Tube hydroforming is a technology that is new to many and proving it's merits as a viable and often superior alternative to welding tubular assemblies from stampings.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper discusses how pressure sequence and high pressure hydroforming techniques work, how two ...

Tube hydroforming process: A reference guide
Materials & Design, 2012Abstract Tube hydroforming is one of the most popular unconventional metal forming processes which is widely used to form various tubular components. By this process, tubes are formed into different shapes using internal pressure and axial compressive loads simultaneously to force a tubular blank to conform to the shape of a given die cavity.

Modelling of micro tubes hydroforming processes
2009 International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation, 2009The wall thickness of formed micro tubes is not uniformly distributed and is difficult to control. The macro mechanics FE modelling can not be used to simulate such effects in micro tubes hydroforming processes. In this paper, a simplified plain strain Crystal Plasticity Finite Element (CPFE) based modelling technique has been developed and used to ...

Hydroformed seam-welded aluminium tubes
ATZautotechnology, 2001Modern cars consist of a steadily increasing variety of materials and semi-finished products. Traditionally used materials, such as steel sheet and cast iron, are being substituted more and more by other materials and advanced semis, e.g. welded tailored blanks or composite materials.

Virtual process development in tube hydroforming
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2004Abstract In order to successfully develop a new tube hydroforming (THF) process, a system approach is recommended. Problems and improvements in each area of the THF technology and their interactions should be considered. In the product and process design phases, in order to reduce the cost of physical prototyping, virtual prototyping, i.e.

The development of a novel forming limit diagram under nonlinear loading paths in tube hydroforming
, 2020The loading paths of tubular parts containing the characteristic of variable diameter during hydroforming are nonlinear and similar to the loading paths during tube hydro-bulging tests.
