Tube Thoracostomy Complicates Unrecognized Diaphragmatic Rupture
The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, 1999A case of traumatic diaphragmatic rupture is reported in which herniated stomach mimicked a tension pneumothorax. Tube thoracostomy by trocar caused insertion of the pleural drain into the intrathoracic stomach. CT scan of the thorax after oral administration of contrast material revealed the correct diagnosis. After removal of the drain and retraction

Tracheal Rupture, Complication of Cuffed Endotracheal Tube
Chest, 1971A patient with tracheal laceration due to over inflation and rupture of the cuff of endotracheal tube is reported. The patient was operated within 24 hours with excellent results. Examination three years after reveals only a megatrachea. The importance of prompt diagnosis and treatment as the only way to obtain survival with no complication is stressed.

Tracheobronchial Ruptures due to Cuffed Carlens Tubes
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1979At our institution in the past 22 years, more than 3,000 patients have undergone chest procedures, and 2,700 of them were intubated with a cuffed Carlens endotracheal tube. In this paper we report on 5 patients with tracheobronchial ruptures caused by intubation with these tubes. We believe this hazard should be brought to the attention of physicians.

On the Creep Rupture of a Tube and a Sphere
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1975Lower bounds on rupture times of a thick-walled tube in pure torsion and a hollow sphere under constant internal pressure are obtained. Numerical values of rupture times for the tube case with different forms of damage rate laws are presented. The type of damage law assumed makes a significant effect on predicting the time to rupture but failure in all

Structural response of calandria tube to a spontaneous rupture of the pressure tube
International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1988Abstract The primary function of calandria tubes in a CANDU (CANada Deuterium Uranium) pressurized heavy water reactor is to minimize the heat loss from the heat transport system to the cool moderator by providing an insulating gas annulus. Circulation of an inert gas in the annulus also provides an effective leak detection capability. During certain

CFD modeling of a boiler’s tubes rupture
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2006Abstract This paper reports the results of a study on the reason for tubes damage in the superheater Platen section of the 320 MW Bisotoun power plant, Iran. The boiler has three types of superheater tubes and the damage occurs in a series of elbows belongs to the long tubes.

Rupture of Water Wall Tubes of a Boiler
2019Abstract Several ruptures took place in the front wall tubes of a water tube boiler. Some rupture samples showed ductile failure while others showed brittle failure. Specimens taken from the rupture where a thick edge had been produced, i.e., with little evidence of prior plastic deformation, showed a coarse microstructure indicative of ...

Ginna Steam Generator Tube Rupture
1984At 9:25 a. m. on January 25, 1982, a single steam generator tube ruptured in the “B” steam generator at the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant. Prior to the incident, the plant, a two-loop Westinghouse design, had been operating at full power with no indications of primary to secondary leakage.
