Advanced Electron Microscopy and Microcomputed Tomography Analysis of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Base Superalloys After Short‐Term Multiaxial Creep

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

HOW TO REMOVE PUS TUBES WITHOUT RUPTURE. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1896
The contents of pus tubes may not be infectious, but it is desirable to avoid the usual soiling of peritoneal and wound surfaces with any kind of pus. It is, therefore, in the opinion of the writer, better to make a longer incision, to tie the ovarian and ovarouterine arteries and free the specimen at one or both ends or sides before attempting ...

Airway rupture from double-lumen tubes

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 1999
A DOUBLE-CUFFED double-lumen endobronchial tube (DLT) was used for the first time during thoracic surgery almost 50 years ago to isolate and selectively ventilate the lungs. The benefits of DLTs in terms of improved surgical exposure mad their ability to isolate and protect the lungs during thoracic operations are now widely recognized.

A Case of Traumatic Duodenal Rupture with Pancreatic Injury [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Traumatic duodenal rupture results in severe peritonitis because of pancreatic juice and bile. However, its diagnosis is difficult when it occurs in the retroperitoneum. Its surgical treatment consists of closing the rupture with sutures, and covering and

Study on Rupture of Tube Type Crash Energy Absorber using Finite Element Method

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this paper is to confirm the effect of key design parameters, the punch radius and punch angle, on rupture of the expansion tube using a finite element analysis with a ductile damage model.

Risk assessment of severe accident-induced steam generator tube rupture [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
This report describes the basis, results, and related risk implications of an analysis performed by an ad hoc working group of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to assess the containment bypass potential attributable to steam generator tube ...

Hybrid Metal–Carbon Ink for Printed Stretchable Temperature Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We prepare conductive inks for temperature sensing with silver flakes and carbon or graphite flakes in a silicone elastomer matrix. Silver dominates the temperature‐dependent conductivity, while the carbon filler network ensures the stability of the conductive pathways and retains function under strain.
