The treatment of tuberculous pericarditis

Summary The introduction of potent antituberculous drugs has caused a marked reduction in the mortality rate from tuberculous pericarditis. Therapy should be started early and should be prolonged for 18 months. The treatment of choice is isoniazid 8–16 mg. per Kg. daily plus paraminosalicylic acid 10–12 gm. daily.
