To examine the current indications for myringotomy with tube placement.In 2004, revised clinical practice guidelines for otitis media with effusion (OME) and acute otitis media (AOM) were published. Because of the rate of spontaneous resolution of otitis in children, these guidelines suggest more 'watchful waiting' in both disease processes.

Nasogastric tube misplacement into Eustachian tube
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, 2003Paediatric nasogastric tube placement can occasionally be difficult to perform. A unique case in a child is described where the tip of the nasogastric tube managed to travel via the Eustachian tube through the attic and into the mastoid cavity of the middle ear.

Complications of Nasoenteral Tubes. Intragastric Tube Knotting and Intragastric Tube Breakage
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, 1992We report two complications of nasoenteral tubes. A nasogastric tube became knotted during gastric intubation in a patient with a small gastric remnant, created during gastric surgery for morbid obesity. A clogged Dobbhoff tube ruptured while it was being flushed manually with a syringe containing normal saline under great pressure.

2019A broad variety of gastrointestinal tract tubes and lines are defined and discussed, including those for diagnostic, functional, and therapeutic uses. The specific imaging findings for each type of device are noted, as are device-specific complications. Salient imaging features are emphasized across imaging modalities.
