The construction, characteristics and application of a laboratory-built coated tubular solid-state sulphide-selective electrode are described. Tygon tubing and silver foil are used to construct the tubular flow-through sensor. Treatment of the constructed tubular silver foil with a sodium sulphide solution yields an active membrane (volume, 15.7 µl ...

Coated Tubular Ion-Selective Electrode Units in Process Systems
ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2014Dick (Richard) Buck made his mark in 1968 in the activity on ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) on the response of solid-state membrane electrodes under zero current conditions1 and in 1974 on concentration dependent selectivity coefficients for ion-selective electrodes2. I met Dick Buck in 1985 in the UK when I gave my first lecture on the new innovation

It is advisable to use electrodeposited nickel-boron coatings to improve the corrosion resistance of the nickel coating on porous fibrous bases of tubular-plate nickel oxide electrodes of chemical power cells. It was found that a substantial nonuniformity of the current distribution and the coating thickness in deep and surface layers of the base is ...

A tubular solid-state lead(II)-selective electrode was prepared and constructed as a compact tubular sensor (volume 8.8 μl) from a lead tube and Tygon tubing. The lead/ lead sulphide membrane was activated by anodic deposition and conditioned in lead nitrate medium at pH 3.

Abstract A rapid and reliable automated procedure for the direct measurement of the chloride content in milk is described. The method is based on the principles of the flow-injection technique; a dialyzer is used to eliminate interferences and the dialyzed chloride is measured with a coated tubular chloride-selective electrode.

The construction, incorporation and behaviour of a simple and cheap coated tubular solid-state iodide-selective electrode into the conduits of a flow-injection system is described. The compact tubular membrane FIA system is stable and once the electrode is established, it requires minimum maintenance.

The shape and quality of the analytical signal obtained from coated open-tubular inorganic-based solid-state ion-selective electrodes interfaced to a flow injection system are directly influenced by both the electrode and the flow injection system. The electrode characteristics and response, in a flow-through system, are controlled by the chemical ...

The incorporation, behaviour and suitability of a simple and cheap home-made coated tubular solid-state silver(I)-selective electrode into the conduits of a flow-injection system is described. With 30 μl samples the flow-injection flow-through electrode system covers a working range up to 5000 mg/l.

An evaluation of the influence and contribution of the response times of coated open-tubular solid-state bromide- and chloride-selective electrodes on the analytical throughput (dispersion) in flow injection (FI) systems is presented using concentration ranges of 10–5000 mg dm–3 for bromide and chloride, respectively, in the study.
