Mitsugumin 29 regulates t-tubule architecture in the failing heart

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Transverse tubules (t-tubules) are uniquely-adapted membrane invaginations in cardiac myocytes that facilitate the synchronous release of Ca2+ from internal stores and subsequent myofilament contraction, although these structures become disorganized and ...

Insights into centriole geometry revealed by cryotomography of doublet and triplet centrioles. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Centrioles are cylindrical assemblies comprised of 9 singlet, doublet, or triplet microtubules, essential for the formation of motile and sensory cilia.

SNX27 mediates retromer tubule entry and endosome-to-plasma membrane trafficking of signaling receptors

open access: yesNature Cell Biology, 2011
Endocytic sorting of signalling receptors between recycling and degradative pathways is a key cellular process controlling the surface complement of receptors and, accordingly, the cell’s ability to respond to specific extracellular stimuli.

Recent Advancements in Lung Cancer Metastasis Prevention Based on Nanostrategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metastasis is the leading cause of death in patients with lung cancer. Nanomedicine can be used to prepare efficient drug delivery systems owing to their advantages and plays an important role in the synergistic antimetastasis of lung cancer. This comprehensive review summarizes the emerging nanostrategies against lung cancer metastasis based on the ...

Proximal tubule H-ferritin mediates iron trafficking in acute kidney injury.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2013
Ferritin plays a central role in iron metabolism and is made of 24 subunits of 2 types: heavy chain and light chain. The ferritin heavy chain (FtH) has ferroxidase activity that is required for iron incorporation and limiting toxicity.

IncRNA‐ZFAS1, an Emerging Gate‐Keeper in DNA Damage‐Dependent Transcriptional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LncZFAS1 plays a crucial role during DNA damage response in mammalian cells. Loss of lncZFAS1 results in deficient DNA lesion removal and reduced cell viability. Mechanistically, lncZFAS1 modulates RNAPII phosphorylation and transcription and thereby promotes both GG‐NER and TC‐NER upon UV damage.

Inhalation of mercury vapor can cause the toxic effects on rat kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dental amalgam has been used in dentistry as a filling material. The filler comprises mercury (Hg). It is considered one of the most important and widespread environmental pollutants, which poses a serious potential threat for the humans and animals ...

Emerging mechanisms of T-tubule remodelling in heart failure.

open access: yesCardiovascular Research, 2013
Cardiac excitation-contraction coupling occurs primarily at the sites of transverse (T)-tubule/sarcoplasmic reticulum junctions. The orderly T-tubule network guarantees the instantaneous excitation and synchronous activation of nearly all Ca(2+) release ...

Seminiferous Tubules and Spermatogenesis

open access: yes, 2022
One of the major concerns of the world health community is the infertility. The definition of infertility according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) is the inability of a healthy couple to achieve a conception after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse.
