Advancements in Carbon‐Based Piezoelectric Materials: Mechanism, Classification, and Applications in Energy Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon‐based piezoelectric materials are systematically categorized based on their structural and functional properties. The mechanisms of stress‐induced charge transfer are elucidated, and their applications are explored across three key domains: piezoelectric catalysis for energy conversion and environmental remediation, piezoelectric biomedical ...

Zinc‐Coordinated Trienzyme Nanogel Cascade Therapy for Accelerated Post‐Pancreatectomy Cutaneous Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A zinc‐coordinated nanogel assembly is reported that co‐delivers three enzymes to regulate glucose, oxidative stress, and oxygen levels. This system mimics natural enzyme cascades to reprogram the wound environment after pancreatectomy. In a post‐pancreatectomy mouse model, it accelerates healing by reducing infection, promoting blood vessel growth ...

One‐Step Covalent Biofunctionalization of Tubular Constructs Enabled by Surface‐Embedded Radicals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Uniform covalent biofunctionalization of tubular constructs is achieved in one step using surface‐embedded radicals generated by a novel plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) technology. This scalable, solvent‐free technology advances bioengineered tubes for tissue engineering and implant applications.

Mitsugumin 29 regulates t-tubule architecture in the failing heart

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Transverse tubules (t-tubules) are uniquely-adapted membrane invaginations in cardiac myocytes that facilitate the synchronous release of Ca2+ from internal stores and subsequent myofilament contraction, although these structures become disorganized and ...

Ring around the tubule [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 2006
![Graphic][1] Coils of kinesin-13 (arrows) surround a microtubule. The kinesin protein family is in the trucking business, hauling vesicles and other cellular cargo along the microtubules. The family's black sheep is kinesin-13, which disassembles the filaments while riding on them.

Seminiferous Tubules and Spermatogenesis

open access: yes, 2022
One of the major concerns of the world health community is the infertility. The definition of infertility according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) is the inability of a healthy couple to achieve a conception after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse.

A High‐Throughput AngioPlate Platform with Integrated AngioTEER for Modeling and Monitoring Renal Proximal Tubule Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Renal tubular injury is a major contributor to kidney disease, yet remains poorly understood due to the lack of predictive models. This study presents a high‐throughput 3D renal proximal tubule model on the AngioPlate platform integrated with automated TEER measurements (AngioTEER), enabling real‐time monitoring of drug‐induced nephrotoxicity ...

Insect‐Microbe‐Based Laccase: Untapped Natural Resource for Industrial and Biotechnological Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
The insect‐microbe interplay fulfills a key ecological role involving the degradation of ligninocellulose biomass. This is coordinated by the secretion of different kinds of proteins, of which ligninolytic enzymes, such as laccases (Lacs), are of prime importance.

A novel mechanism of gland formation in zebrafish involving transdifferentiation of renal epithelial cells and live cell extrusion

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Transdifferentiation is the poorly understood phenomenon whereby a terminally differentiated cell acquires a completely new identity. Here, we describe a rare example of a naturally occurring transdifferentiation event in zebrafish in which kidney distal
