Targeting the Spinal Cord‐Brain Axis: Electroacupuncture Mitigates Remote Frontal Cortex Neuroinflammation via HMGB1/TLR4 to Aid Functional Recovery After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Spinal cord injury (SCI) has been shown to trigger remote neuroinflammation in the frontal cortex via the HMGB1/TLR4/NF‐κB pathway, exacerbating neural damage and impairing functional recovery. The present study demonstrates that electroacupuncture (EA) at GV4 (Mingmen) and GV14 (Dazhui) effectively mitigates this pathological cascade.

Causal Relationship Between Antihypertensive Drugs and Erectile Dysfunction Revealed Using a Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesAndrologia, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the leading cause of sexual dysfunction in hundreds of millions of men worldwide, with serious negative consequences for the quality of life of both men and their partners. Whereas antihypertensive drugs may play a role in the progression of ED, evidence of causality is limited. We aimed to investigate the causal

Comprehensive Analysis Reveals Potential Molecular Targets in Juvenile Dermatomyositis

open access: yesBiochemistry Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a rare autoimmune disease primarily affecting children, characterized by muscle weakness and skin lesions. This study identifies 145 genes significantly associated with JDM through differential gene expression analysis, weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA), protein–protein interaction network analysis ...

A Longitudinal Network Analysis of Depressive Symptoms Among Older Adults: Findings From an 8‐Year Prospective China National Survey

open access: yesDepression and Anxiety, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Late‐life depression (LLD) is a significant global public health challenge among older adults. Exploring central/influential symptoms with longitudinal study designs can enhance the efficacy of detection, early prevention, and interventions for LLD.

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has emerged as a pressing global health challenge, and tobacco exposure constitutes a major modifiable risk factor—particularly among middle‐aged and elderly populations. However, a comprehensive understanding of the global burden of tobacco exposure–attributable mortality and disability‐adjusted life years ...
