Appendiceal Carcinoids In Crohn’s Disease

Earlier investigations demonstrate an increased risk for colon cancer in Crohn′s disease. For other intestinal neoplasms, such as carcinoids, studies are limited. In Crohn′s disease, repeated endoscopic and imaging studies along with intestinal resections may facilitate clinical recognition of neoplastic diseases, including appendiceal neoplasms.

Synchronous Epithelioid Stromal Tumour and Lipoma in the Stomach

An 82‐year‐old man presented with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. A polypoid lesion of the distal stomach with focal ulceration was seen at endoscopy. This was treated by a partial gastrectomy. The resected stomach contained two separate tumours near the pylorus: a gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) and an adjacent lipoma.

An Unusual Cause of an Incidental Lung Mass

A 52‐year‐old woman was found to have a mass measuring 1 cm in diameter with radiographic features of a carcinoid tumour in the left lung during work‐up for chest pain. Wedge excision of the lesion revealed a leiomyoma that had a similar histological appearance to uterine ′fibroids′ removed eight years previously.

Thymic Carcinoid Tumour

Carcinoid tumours of the thymus are rare. The case of a 57‐year‐old asymptomatic man with a carcinoid tumour of the thymus, who showed a widened mediastinum by chest x‐ray, is presented. Fine needle aspiration suggested the diagnosis, which was confirmed by biopsy.
