Model order reduction and sensitivity analysis for complex heat transfer simulations inside the human eyeball

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 11, November 2024.
In this study, we introduce a comprehensive 3D mathematical and computational model to simulate heat transfer in the human eye. Our model overcomes experimental analysis challenges and incorporates a fast model reduction technique, ensuring computational efficiency without sacrificing accuracy.

Targeted Genetic Sequencing Analysis of 223 Cases of Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Treated by Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Shows Survival Related to GNAS and KRAS Status

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 20, October 2024.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is an unusual condition with unique behaviour caused by a mucinous neoplasm, usually arising from the appendix. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of genomic alterations in clinical specimens of PMP using a targeted assay and correlate the findings with clinical, pathological ...

Activation of Hsp90 Enzymatic Activity and Conformational Dynamics through Rationally Designed Allosteric Ligands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Hsp90 is a molecular chaperone of pivotal importance for multiple cell pathways. ATP-regulated internal dynamics are critical for its function and current pharmacological approaches block the chaperone with ATP-competitive inhibitors.

Imaging features, clinical characteristics and neonatal outcomes of pregnancy luteoma: A case series and literature review

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 103, Issue 4, Page 740-750, April 2024.
Distinguishing pregnancy luteoma from malignant ovarian tumors may be challenging. However, features such as maternal masculinization and the presence of solid masses with multiple nodules on imaging may provide valuable diagnostic clues. Abstract Introduction This study aimed to investigate the imaging features, clinical characteristics and neonatal ...

Chaperones and chaperone-substrate complexes: dynamic playgrounds for NMR spectroscopists [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The majority of proteins depend on a well-defined three-dimensional structure to obtain their functionality. In the cellular environment, the process of protein folding is guided by molecular chaperones to avoid misfolding, aggregation, and the ...

Cancer during pregnancy: Twenty‐two years of experience from a tertiary referral center

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 103, Issue 4, Page 716-728, April 2024.
The optimal management for pregnant women with cancer should be selected by the medical team (Ob/Gyn/perinatologist, neonatologist, oncologist), the patient and her family, depending on the gestational age, type and stage of cancer, therapeutic options and the patient's wishes. If the malignancy is not progressing, pregnancy should be continued as long
