Tunable superconducting nanoinductors [PDF]
We characterize inductors fabricated from ultra-thin, approximately 100 nm wide strips of niobium (Nb) and niobium nitride (NbN). These nanowires have a large kinetic inductance in the superconducting state. The kinetic inductance scales linearly with the nanowire length, with a typical value of 1 nH/um for NbN and 44 pH/um for Nb at a temperature of 2.

A passively Q-switched Ho:YVO4 Laser at 2.05 μm with Graphene Saturable Absorber
We report a passively Q-switched Ho:YVO4 laser pumped at 1.94 µm with multilayer graphene as a saturable absorber. At the absorbed pump power of 9.3 W, the maximum average output power of 2.2 W was obtained in Ho:YVO4 laser with minimum pulse width of ...

Application of DMLF in Pulse Ranging LiDAR System
A novel differential method based on linear fitting is proposed to improve the accuracy of the pulse-ranging system. In this method, the Peak Points (PPs) of the traditional echo signal transformed into the Positive-Going Zero-Crossing Points (PGZCPs) of

Discrete, tunable color-entanglement [PDF]
Although frequency multiplexing of information has revolutionized the field of classical communications, the color degree of freedom (DOF) has been used relatively little for quantum applications. We experimentally demonstrate a new hybrid quantum gate that transfers polarization entanglement of non-degenerate photons onto the color DOF. We create, for

Writing Electronic Devices on Paper with Carbon Nanotube Ink [PDF]
The normal paper used in any printer is among the cheapest flexible organic materials that exist. We demonstrate that we can print on paper high-frequency circuits tunable with an applied dc voltage.

Highly Sensitive and Fast Hydrogen Detection Based on Light-Induced Thermoelastic Spectroscopy
As a new energy source, hydrogen (H2) detection is a hot topic in recent years. Because of the weak absorption characteristic, laser spectroscopy-based H2 detection is challenging.

A new type of solid-state variable focal length lens is described. It is based on shape changes in an elastomeric membrane driven by compression of a reservoir of a polymer gel. A novel fabrication process based on individual lens components allows for customization of lens power based on the desired application. The lens shape as a function of applied
