Investigation of Stray Radiation Suppression in Infrared Imaging System Using a Novel Broadband and High-Absorption Ceramic Coating

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Aiming at addressing the vulnerability of the infrared imaging opto-mechanical system to stray radiation interference caused by an external laser, a new method with a broadband and high-absorptivity ceramic coating on the inner wall of the system is ...

High Compact, High Quality Single Longitudinal Mode Hundred Picoseconds Laser Based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Pulse Compression

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2016
A high beam quality hundred picoseconds single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) laser is demonstrated based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) pulse compression and aberration compensation.

Tunable superconducting nanoinductors [PDF]

open access: yesNanotechnology, 2010
We characterize inductors fabricated from ultra-thin, approximately 100 nm wide strips of niobium (Nb) and niobium nitride (NbN). These nanowires have a large kinetic inductance in the superconducting state. The kinetic inductance scales linearly with the nanowire length, with a typical value of 1 nH/um for NbN and 44 pH/um for Nb at a temperature of 2.

On the Trade-Off Between Quality Factor and Tuning Ratio in Tunable High-Frequency Capacitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A benchmark of tunable and switchable devices at microwave frequencies is presented on the basis of physical limitations to show their potential for reconfigurable cellular applications.

A Tunable Photosensor

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2008
A pyrene-modified beta-cyclodextrin (pyrenecyclodextrin)-decorated single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) field-effect transistor (FET) device was fabricated, which can serve as a tunable photosensor to sense a fluorescent adamantyl-modified Ru complex (ADA-Ru).

Discrete, tunable color-entanglement [PDF]

open access: yesCLEO/Europe - EQEC 2009 - European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the European Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
Although frequency multiplexing of information has revolutionized the field of classical communications, the color degree of freedom (DOF) has been used relatively little for quantum applications. We experimentally demonstrate a new hybrid quantum gate that transfers polarization entanglement of non-degenerate photons onto the color DOF. We create, for

A passively Q-switched Ho:YVO4 Laser at 2.05 μm with Graphene Saturable Absorber

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2016
We report a passively Q-switched Ho:YVO4 laser pumped at 1.94 µm with multilayer graphene as a saturable absorber. At the absorbed pump power of 9.3 W, the maximum average output power of 2.2 W was obtained in Ho:YVO4 laser with minimum pulse width of ...

Gm-APD LiDAR Single-Source Data Self-Guided: Obtaining High-Resolution Depth Map

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2023
Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode (Gm-APD) array LiDAR has become the current research focus due to its sensitive response, high precision, and easy integration. However, due to the limitations of the fabrication process and manufacturing cost, the images

Joint Effects of Co-Channel Interferences and Pointing Errors on Dual-Hop Mixed RF/FSO Fixed-Gain and Variable-Gain Relaying Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2023
The performance of a dual-hop mixed radio frequency (RF)/free space optical (FSO) system with co-channel interferences (CCIs) is studied for both fixed-gain and variable-gain amplify-and-forward(AF) relaying scenarios.

High-Efficiency Optical Parametric Oscillator Based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Pulse Shaping

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We present an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that uses a pump pulse shape tailored by stimulated Brillouin scattering. The theoretical analysis is carried out for comparison between Gaussian pump and the step function pulse pump.
