We report the demonstration of a tunable dysprosium laser. The experiment employed in-band pumping of a Dy3+-doped fluoride fiber and a simple resonator design involving a ruled diffraction grating. The laser produced tuning between 2.95 and 3.35 μm, limited by the availability of optics.

We have developed a resistance-based chemical sensor (chemiresistor) for volatile organic compounds whose sensitivity can be reversibly increased over a range of nearly 2 decades by the application of tensile strain. This polymer-based sensor is comprised of Au-plated magnetic particles structured into conducting chains by the application of a magnetic

Most current radio receivers use SAW bandpass filters for band selection. Their center frequency depends on the dimensions of the interdigital structure. Therefore, in the next few years, SAW technology will face some fabrication process limits because of the need of higher operating frequencies. BAW resonators are emerging as an alternative technology.

Tunable Aeroelasticity With Self-Tunable Composite Materials
AIAA SCITECH 2024 ForumThis paper reports the dynamic performance of novel aerospace structures with embedded multiphase materials with tunable stiffness and damping parameters. The proposed structures embedded multiphase materials exploit the thermal loads generated in high-speed fights to tune the stiffness and damping parameters, and thus, enable adaptive aeroelastic ...
