Taurus Tunable Filter -- seven years of observing

open access: yes, 2003
The Taurus Tunable Filter (TTF) has now been in regular use for seven years on the Anglo-Australian Telescope. The instrument was also used for three years (1996--1999) on the William Herschel Telescope.

Continuously Tunable Microwave Photonic Notch Filter With a Complex Coefficient

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2011
This paper presents a continuously tunable microwave photonic notch filter with a complex coefficient. The complex coefficient is generated using a radio-frequency (RF) phase shifter that consists of a dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator (DPMZM) and a ...

Curvature induced magnonic crystal in nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A new type of magnonic crystals, curvature induced ones, is realized in ferromagnetic nanowires with periodically deformed shape. A magnon band structure of such crystal is fully determined by its curvature: the developed theory is well confirmed by ...

Continuously Tunable and Bandwidth Variable Optical Notch/Band-Pass Filters Over 500 nm Spectral Range Using Cholesteric Liquid Crystals

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We report continuously tunable and bandwidth variable optical notch and band-pass filters created by combining four left- and right-handed circular cholesteric liquid crystal cells without extra optical components. Filter performance was greatly improved

Dual-Band Tunable Recursive Active Filter

open access: yes, 2011
This letter presents a novel recursive active filter topology that provides dual-band performance, with independent tuning capability in both bands. The dual-band operation is achieved by using two independent feedback lines.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Control of broad-area vertical-cavity surface emitting laser emission by optically induced photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We control the emission properties of a broad-area vertical-cavity surface emitting laser by coupling it to an external feedback cavity containing a photorefractive crystal with an optically induced photonic lattice.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Frequency tunability of solid-core photonic crystal fibers filled with nanoparticle-doped liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We infiltrate liquid crystals doped with BaTiO3 nanoparticles in a photonic crystal fiber and compare the measured transmission spectrum with the one achieved without dopant.
