Tunable microwave filters using ferroelectric materials

IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 2003
A new design approach for a microstrip tunable filter on a two-layered substrate with BSTO thin films is suggested. The coupling factor of a ferroelectric capacitor connected to the microstrip resonators of the filter is considered to make possible the design of the filter with constant pass band width while tuning. Results of the filter characteristic

Porous materials with tunable mechanical properties

Journal of Porous Materials, 2014
We present a study of the mechanical properties of porous polymer materials elaborated from the controlled formulation of emulsions and using a polyHIPE templating approach. This consists in the polymerization of high internal phase water-in-oil emulsions of controlled average size and dispersed phase volume fraction.

Tunable photonic crystals using ferroelectric materials

2006 13th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems, 2006
For microwave applications, there is a great demand for frequency tunable devices. Most of the time, these devices are obtained by including discrete components in the structures. We propose here to use a ferroelectric material with weak losses. It will be associated with frequency selective surfaces and photonic crystals.

Electrically tunable materials for microwave applications

Applied Physics Reviews, 2015
Microwave devices based on tunable materials are of vigorous current interest. Typical applications include phase shifters, antenna beam steering, filters, voltage controlled oscillators, matching networks, and tunable power splitters. The objective of this review is to assist in the material selection process for various applications in the microwave ...

Crystallization of “tunable” substrate optoelectronic materials

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1993
Abstract This work can partially contribute to the direct growth of bulk substrate crystals of TSS (Ternary Solid Solutions) -- (Ga.In)Sb -- with a lattice parameter “a” constant throughout the significant part of the ingot length. The combination of our original methods CAM-S (A Crystallization Method Providing Composition Autocontrol in Situ) and ...

Light propagation in tunable photonic materials

Photonic Metamaterials: From Random to Periodic, 2006
We will discuss light transport in complex photonic structures like random lasers and photonic crystals. In particular we will focus on tuning and switching via liquid crystal infiltration and discuss various models of random lasing.

Tunable Optical Nonlinearities in Layered Materials

ACS Photonics
Nonlinear optical processes lie at the heart of frequency tunable coherent light sources, including entangled photon sources and squeezed states of light, and they have become ubiquitous in fields ranging from ultrafast spectroscopy to quantum information processing.
