Doped Graphene as Tunable Electron−Phonon Coupling Material [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters, 2010
We present a new way to tune the electron-phonon coupling (EPC) in graphene by changing the deformation potential with electron/hole doping. We show the EPC for highest optical branch at the high symmetry point K, acquires a strong dependency on the doping level due to electron-electron correlation not accounted in mean-field approaches.

Tunable modulation instability spectra in negative index materials

open access: yesResults in Optics, 2023
This paper investigates the formation of tunable modulation instability windows in metamaterials. We consider the influence of third-order dispersion, fourth-order dispersion, cubic nonlinearity, quintic nonlinearity, detuning parameter, self-steepening ...

Tunable Intrinsic Plasmons due to Band Inversion in Topological Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The band inversion has led to rich physical effects in both topological insulators and topological semimetals. It has been found that the inverted band structure with the Mexican-hat dispersion could enhance the interband correlation leading to a strong ...

Broadband tunable absorption based on phase change materials

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
Tunable absorbers have been the subject of many studies in recent years. However, broadband tunable absorbers, which are promising in many applications such as photovoltaic and daytime radiative cooling systems, have not been extensively explored.

Tunable magnetic exchange interactions in manganese-doped inverted core/shell ZnSe/CdSe nanocrystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Magnetic doping of semiconductor nanostructures is actively pursued for applications in magnetic memory and spin-based electronics. Central to these efforts is a drive to control the interaction strength between carriers (electrons and holes) and the ...

Tunable nanophotonics enabled by chalcogenide phase-change materials

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2020
Nanophotonics has garnered intensive attention due to its unique capabilities in molding the flow of light in the subwavelength regime. Metasurfaces (MSs) and photonic integrated circuits (PICs) enable the realization of mass-producible, cost-effective ...

Tunable high-index photonic glasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Materials with extreme photonic properties such as maximum diffuse reflectance, high albedo, or tunable band gaps are essential in many current and future photonic devices and coatings.

A cohesive granular material with tunable elasticity [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
AbstractBy mixing glass beads with a curable polymer we create a well-defined cohesive granular medium, held together by solidified, and hence elastic, capillary bridges. This material has a geometry similar to a wet packing of beads, but with an additional control over the elasticity of the bonds holding the particles together.

Magnetically tunable dielectric materials

open access: yes, 2009
The coupling between localized spins and phonons can lead to shifts in the dielectric constant of insulating materials at magnetic ordering transitions. Studies on isostructural SeCuO3 (ferromagnetic) and TeCuO3 (antiferromagnetic) illustrate how the q-dependent spin-spin correlation function couples to phonon frequencies leading to a shift in the ...
