Silencing Suppressor Protein p26 of Areca Palm Velarivirus 1 (APV1) Interacts With SGS3 and Promotes Its Degradation Via the Ubiquitination Pathway

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
APV1‐encoded p26 protein is a multifunctional VSR that suppresses RNA silencing and blocks the systemic spread of silencing signals. p26 interacts with host SGS3, a key component of the plant antiviral silencing pathway, and targets SGS3 for accelerated degradation via the ubiquitination pathway.

Sporadic Occurrence of Tungro (RTV) in Rice Resistant to Tungro Spherical Virus (RTSV)

open access: yes, 1989
This article 'Sporadic Occurrence of Tungro (RTV) in Rice Resistant to Tungro Spherical Virus (RTSV)' appeared in the International Rice Research Newsletter series, created by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The primary objective of this publication was to expedite communication among scientists concerned with the development of ...

Enhanced Rice Yellow Mottle Virus Resistance via CRISPR/Cas9‐Targeted Mutagenesis of the Rice eIF(iso)4G Gene

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
Using CRISPR/Cas9 to edit the susceptibility gene in rice eIF(iso)4G helped to lower the infection of rice yellow mottle virus in mutated lines of the Indica rice cultivar IR2793‐80‐01. ABSTRACT Rice is a staple crop primarily recognised for its high content of carbohydrates and proteins.

First waikavirus infectious clones and vascular expression of green fluorescent protein from maize chlorotic dwarf virus

open access: yesFrontiers in Virology, 2023
Plant viruses classified in the genus Waikavirus, family Secoviridae, are positive sense single-stranded RNA viruses that include important pathogens of maize (maize chlorotic dwarf virus; MCDV) and rice (rice tungro spherical virus; RTSV).

Insights from controlled, comparative experiments highlight the limitations of using BSMV and FoMV for virus‐enabled reverse genetics in rice

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 188, Issue 3, Page 745-754, May 2026.
Virus‐enabled reverse genetics (VERG) enables transient gene expression modulation in plants but its efficacy varies across species. We evaluated the efficacy of barley stripe mosaic virus (BSMV) and foxtail mosaic virus (FoMV) for virus‐induced gene silencing (VIGS) and virus‐mediated overexpression (VOX) in rice (Oryza sativa).

PLDC‐Net: A Domain‐Specific Base Model for Plant Leaf Disease Classification Domain Adaptation Tasks

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant diseases are the cause of heavy losses of crop production and, therefore, a big contributor to food shortages. Identifying these diseases as early as possible is important to limit the negative effects that these diseases have on the yields, as slow response time will lead to the spread of diseases and further loss.

Temporal patterns and management effectiveness of insect pests and diseases in Boro rice cultivation: A 5‐year analysis (2019–2023)

open access: yesUrban Agriculture &Regional Food Systems, Volume 11, Issue 1, 2026.
Abstract Boro rice (Oryza sativa L.) plays a crucial role in ensuring food security in Bangladesh, yet its productivity is challenged by recurring insect pest and disease outbreaks. This study analyzed 5 years (2019–2023) of data to assess the temporal patterns of insect pest and disease outbreaks in Boro rice cultivation in Bangladesh and evaluate the

Targeted mutation in eIF4G gene in rice

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2020
Rice tungro disease (RTD), caused by the interaction between rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) and rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV) is a serious constraint in rice production.

Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in a Gene for Translation Initiation Factor (eIF4G) of Rice (Oryza sativa) Associated with Resistance to Rice tungro spherical virus

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2010
Rice tungro disease (RTD) is a serious constraint to rice production in South and Southeast Asia. RTD is caused by Rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) and Rice tungro bacilliform virus. Rice cv. Utri Merah is resistant to RTSV.
